EDR Best Quotes Thread #1: "We're honoring de Ravin as one of our 10 to Watch in 2010" ~ MTV

For all the best quotes from friends, fans, directors, producers, co-stars, former classmates and Emilie herself.
Enjoy!

Quote:
For Emilie De Ravin’s part, we met I think all the young actresses in town. And we asked them to play three different scenes, one screaming scene, one crying scene, and one real life scene. And she came in, and I hope we are going to have that footage in the DVD, and she played back to back three scenes without even a break. She was only changing personality in a split second, it was amazing. ~ Alexandre Aja - The Hills Have Eyes
Quote:
Best known for her six seasons on "Lost," de Ravin registers well with an agreeably assertive screen presence. Beautiful in some shots and almost ordinary-looking in others, the diminutive Aussie thesp has a chameleonlike presence that calls to mind a cross between Julie Christie and Samantha Morton. ~ Variety By TODD MCCARTHY - RM Review
Quote:
'We're blown away. We think the audience will love her.'' ~ Damon Lindelof - Lost
Quote:
It was difficult to find an actress who could play such an "extreme" part -- "to be able to go from the normal life situation to the more extreme screaming, crying, being raped and being witness to murder."

WHAT impressed Aja about De Ravin is that she did all three scenes he had selected for the actresses auditioning back-to-back without a break. "In almost two seconds she was another character," he said.

Aja also liked the fact he could play off her fragility. "She looks so tiny that you don't believe she has this inner strength inside her. For a filmmaker, it's amazing that you can really play with that cliche of being fragile and at the end you reveal her inner strength."~ Alexandre Aja - The Hills Have Eyes
Quote:
"We hadn't found an actress close to the shooting," he said. "We were kind of panicking at the end. This particular character had to have a really delicate balance of strength and fragility. She was a very strong girl who at the point we meet her as been broken down to the almost breaking point."

When De Ravin came in and read, "I just got so excited," Johnson . "When you meet her she's so tiny and feminine, but she's such a strong person that that just shines few." ~ Director Rian Johnson - Brick
Quote:
"She's very independent," said "Lost" executive producer Bryan Burk. " 'Feisty' is the wrong word, but she's strong. She's engaged and she's trying to make that relationship work. He's an actor as well. She is committed to the show, but in that same respect it makes it more difficult for her to do the show because she hasn't moved to Hawaii. But at the same token, she does it just as well as everyone else." ~ Bryan Burk - Lost

Good quotes.

I remember a long time ago there was an article about her that said something like she may not come across as the typical Hollywood actress (ambitious), but she can wow a producer and get roles. I can't find the exact quote and would love to have it.

De Ravin might not come across as a master of self-promotion, but there's no denying she has what the industry describes as the X factor -- that bona fide, head-turning, one-in-a-million sparkle that agents recognise in an instant but struggle to define. - Herald Sun

Yep, that's definitely the article then because I remember the quote being very old.

Great! Thanks guys I love the quote from The Herald Sun.

On Claire's return in season 6...

Quote:
One closing note, Emilie de Ravin's performance as Claire was so brilliant last night -- tranquil and compassionate one moment and then instantly unsettlingly unstable -- I'm actually going to forgive her for three seasons of absentmindedly shouting "Chaaaaaaarlie New York post

Emilie de Ravin does creepy well. The best part was when Claire was stitching up Jin's leg and asked, "You're still my friend, aren't you, Jin? TheDoings-ClarendonHills.com

Emilie would love this quote then...

Quote:
Tiny -- she's 5 feet 2 -- the 24-year-old Australian has that same gamin quality of the young Audrey Hepburn or Leslie Caron. Just like those two legendary performers, De Ravin was also a ballet dancer. ~ Susan King, Times Staff Writer

I loved her face expression on Recon (while she was holding kate's hand). Her smile was so creepy... She does an awesome job this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are a couple of quotes from RM reviews:

(...)Worth mentionable is the chemistry between RPattz and Emilie and viewers enjoy their onscreen bond. The other actors like Brosnan, Ellington, Olin, Cooper all do an appealable job.
But it is Emilie who, though overshadowed by Rob’s fame, does a fabulous job in her role.(...)entertainmentandshowbiz.com
