Hi everyone :wave:,

The Fan Forum Graphics Team is in the process of (re)customizing message boards and now it's your turn!

If you have any picture or color suggestions please post them in this thread. Don't post (hotlink) the pictures, links to them are fine. Make sure that the pictures are of as high quality as possible and that the top of the head of the person in the picture isn't cropped off. We also like to use photoshoot images when possible, preferably individual pictures of each cast member. When suggesting colours please keep in mind that some colors will work better than others. The Team usually tries to avoid really vibrant and dark colours because we have found in the past that they are hard to look at for long periods of time. If you would like some help coming up with colour combinations we recommend checking out the design seeds website.

Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinions for this as you are the ones who will be posting on the board and we hope to make as many people happy with the finished result as possible. It does not matter if you are a board moderator, regular poster, or casual poster here. If you have a suggestion, please share it here with us :).

Your suggestions for possible pictures and colors will be taken into serious consideration, but in the interest of seeing every board receive the best customized look possible the final decision concerning how this board will be customized will be made by the members of the Graphics Team. This is because we want to make sure that the selected graphic and colours fit into the overall design scheme that we've established for Fan Forum.

Please leave this topped until a week or so after the board has been (re)customized.

Note: It usually takes less than two weeks for us to finish making the new banner and the sooner we know what you want, the more we can work on it (though it can take a few months or so to set it up with the new colours on the board), so please let us know your suggestions as soon as possible.

When the Team have made and voted on a winning graphic I will close this thread until the graphic and colors get put up. It will then be re-opened so that you can share your thoughts about it.

Oh wow! This is exciting! :D

I am going to take a guess that the current colours still fit the show/board :P? If you do wish to keep them the same we can do that, although we are likely to alter the shades a little bit so they are easier on the eyes. Of course you can always change them if you want to as well, it is up to you :). I am just making a presumption that you would be happy to keep these colours since they fit so well.

For the characters would you like to keep it as just the family or would you like to add anyone else in? Or maybe you would like us to try add in the pets?

I think the color scheme for our board makes us one of the unique boards here. You absolutely know it is The Simpsons board. But now that the show is in hi def, the shades of blue and yellow may have altered.

It is unique and it does fit the show. That is why I presumed you would like to keep to these colours :). The colours shown on the show possibly have changed slightly, just looking the colours up is giving me different answers (here and here). But there are only minor differences. Would you mind if some of the colours we used were more muted and darker shades so it was not as bright here? Personally just posting this is making my eyes go funny but if no one else has any problems here then I guess we could keep them.

I personally like the colour scheme the way it is. It fits the show perfectly and I can't think of better colours to use. I would be okay with muting the colours a little bit if other people want to do that. Cyn? The brightness doesn't bother me much, I like how cheery it makes the board so if the colours are muted I hope it wouldn't lose that feel.

Even if you use generally the same colours, but change them around somehow? I would be cool with that. :)

As for the picture I would love an updated family picture preferably with the pets. :nod: I will have to take a look to see if I can find anything like that.

I hope you can find things :). I did find some individual pictures of the family but I am not a fan of how they look and I have no idea how old they are.

For the colours I was thinking something like these:

That keeps it to the colours you currently have, but may make some shades easier on the eyes as not everything will be bright shades. A paler blue background (like the background in that image), maybe one of the blue shades for the bars. Just little things like that. The top yellow is close to what you have now (what you have now is possibly a better yellow than I used). I forgot to add in a white into that but white is white so there is little need to test it :P. I am not sure if it would remove some of the cheer you see here but I would hope not. I suppose the blue I used could be a little happier while still being darker than what you have now but they are mainly some example shades to show you what I am thinking. But it is up to you, not me, I just would prefer all boards to be easy on the eyes :lol:.

I'd say do what's best for you. If you're going for all the boards to be easy on the eyes, then I would want our board to follow suit. Just as long as it still has it's vibrancy, which I don't think would be an issue.

I know the logo is pretty small, so let me know if these can't be cut down and I'll try to look for ones that have more length and less width.

The main thing will be how high they are, it is better if they are all around the same height, especially with how tall Marge's hair is. More width is probably better than height.

Here's a question. Does the white in the posting area make it too bright? If we went with the shade of Marge's green dress in the same area, would that "soften" the look?

No, the white is fine. And we try not to colour the posting areas anymore. It is more the combination of bright shades (especially the blues). So if one was made slightly lighter and the other slightly darker that should change that.

If you'd like to keep your same colours, I could do what I did with The Big Bang Theory, they kept their same colour scheme but a lot softer?
