On Sunday, the 25th around 11 o’clock I left for Covina, there was not one cloud hanging at the sky and so it was just perfect. It took some time until I arrived there, but at the end it went very quickly. Citrus St exit, 4 intersections and then I entered the Roswell-Zone…
It’s kind of weird, you know, suddenly you’re driving along the Street where the Crashdown used to be and the characters walked along for so many times!
So I parked the car as it was recommended in the Covina Roswell guide I printed out from the Internet and started the “sightseeing tour”.
First of all I have to add that I didn’t visit all locations, being aware of visiting the Vasquez Rocks the same day, too.
The tour began at the CrashDown which was nearly just across the street from where I parked.
I would have loved to see the crashed spaceship emblem still being attached to the building but unfortunately it had already been removed after season 2…so I was little late.
It’s now called “Citrus Grill”, I actually planed to have lunch there but unfortunately it was closed at that time and so I continued the tour. A few feet north of the Citrus Grill is “Logan’s Hardware”. The owner seems to be a proud member of the Roswell family with “Logan’s Roswell Hardware” being printed on the door. But back to topic, this is where Michael told Isabel he was going to buy Maria a toothbrush.(in A Roswell Christmas Carol).
A few feet northern, on the other side of the street is a little park. At the front of this park there is a sign with a lot of emblems on it. This is the place they used for the Public Library in “Blind Date” and diagonally to your right is where Michael burned the symbol in the grass.
This little park was used for many more scenes, for example in “Leaving Normal” when Kyle’s friends tell him they beat up Max and in “It’s Too Late And It’s Too Bad” when Max talks to Michael about Isabel and what he now thinks about what his real home is.
If you walk along School St, on the right edge of the park, you a big white building on the right side. This building was used as the Pinecrest Psychiatric Hospital at the end of “We Are Family”. If you walk back towards Citrus St there is a café called La Tazza on the same side of the street. This is where Liz and Doug had their blind date dinner. Walk south on Citrus Street and you will notice some chairs of a café on the left side of the street. Yes, Max moves these chairs and crashes into a table at the beginning of “Ask Not”. It’s a nice little café and I decided to have an iced tea there. I guess, I don’t have to mention what a weird feeling it is to sit there outside of a café, across the street is/was the Crashdown Café and the only thing that’s missing is Max running towards you and crashing into your table.
Continue heading south on Citrus and you’ll come to a small alley to your left. This is where Max&Liz parked the jeep at the end of “Sexual Healing” but also where he kissed Tess in “T,L&V”) ,where Nasedo kills the FBI agent in “Max To The Max” and the one where Ed Harding pulls Max into in “Skin and Bones”. If you go down this alley and turn around at its end you see the place where Courtney died in “Wipe Out!” If you now turn right you will notice a little gate to your left that leads to the city hall. This is the path Isabel took in “Wipe Out!” looking for Nicholas. Go out the larger gate to the parking lot. This parking lot is where the Skin’s chartered bus was parked, when Nicholas remote control car bumps into Isabel.
Okay, now I didn’t follow the actual tour anymore. I took some photos of the building that was used for the Roswell’s Sheriff Station and the window where Michael climbes through in “The Morning After”.
Then I drove to the former UFO- Museum and the larger park where Max plays basketball with Michael, for example, or Tess sits on a bench when Max comes in “Ask Not”.
There’s also the shelled stage area that was used for the Christmas pageant and the midnight mass in a “Roswell Christmas Carol”. Not to forget that the end of “The Toy House”, when Max sits down next to his mom on the bench, was filmed in this park, too.
As I was saying, there are a lot more Roswell spots in Covina, some I just walked by without taking a photo, others I just didn’t have enough time to visit.
Okay, those were my, let’s say two hours in Covina.J

Now I headed straight to the Vasquez Rocks near Santa Clarita. As recommended in the guide I exit at Sand Canyon Rd and had lunch(well, late lunch) at Coco’s restaurant. Having finished I turned right onto Soledad Canyon Rd. The first thing that’s Roswell related on this road is the tunnel. This is where Michael sat near while hitchhiking in “Independence Day” and the Pod Squad walked through in “The Departure”. There are some more “sights” on the way to the Vasquez National Park, but I drove straight to the rocks, with the time working against me.
The Rocks are simply amazing and what makes you even more amazed is their important role on Roswell…
I took plenty of photos, climbed up the rocks and searched for the entrance…no, just kiddin’.

After the rocks the guide-book told me about a general store near by that was used in “285 South” where Max buys some food.
By the way, a few feet further there would have been the building that was used as the Café where Sheila was killed by Nasedo and the Road that was used for the Season 1 credits.

Thanks for flying by,bency!
