Dominick Carisi Jr. | Peter Scanavino {SVU} #1
A B O U T ● He is an Italian-American Catholic, religion that Carisi shows to be devoted, not only in the series every time he sees a dead body but crossing himself (a Catholic practice) but whenever he goes to church. H I S T O R Y ● Carisi transferred into the precinct after Sergeant Olivia Benson put in a request for an "experienced, empathetic Detective" following the temporary demotion of Nick Amaro to patrol officer. He also took Amaro's place as the lead male of the SVU after his departure at the end of Season 16. Last edited by B ē tt ⓨ; 05-18-2023 at 07:19 AM |

I like this character, and I am really enjoying him as the ADA. It fits him more than a Detective, and he brings a unique perspective the others haven't had from having worked with the team and from being a former detective. I do have to wonder how likely it is for someone to be able to transfer from being a detective to a lawyer and somehow get to become the ADA for the squad that you used to work for though.

I like Carisi as an ADA now, but it definitely took a while to get him fit into that role because he was such a great detective. He knows how to work with the SVU and the legal system to get the cases won.

That is true. He is good at both, and it was a loss having him no longer as one of the detectives, but he is a good asset for them as their ADA.

I wasn't sure on him becoming an ADA at first, but do love him as one now

I just like him in general and hope we don't say goodbye to him any time soon.

I really hope he doesn't leave, he's our connection to Amanda at this point.

There was so much info on him! He's the one character that has the most familial mentions on the series in regards to mother/father/sisters etc...

That does & doesn't surprise me. I feel like they have really given him a journey & exploration so it makes sense but then older ones you'd hope to have that if not more too

^^ I was surprised to find that the actor that had been on the series longest, Dann Florek, had minimal character history!

That doesn't surprise me a lot. I don't know about L&O but his character didn't get deep information during SVU. He had moments, but the focus was more on the detectives. Unlike now where Olivia still gets screen time & is there & being explored. Cragen just was Captain.

^^ It's how they're portraying Camryn Manheim at the moment. Not a lot of screen time.
But I love one of the tidbits I came across in that.. Quote:
