Hi everyone :wave:,

The Fan Forum Graphics Team is in the process of (re)customising message boards and now it's your turn!

If you have any picture or colour suggestions please post them in this thread. Don't post (hotlink) the pictures, links to them are fine. Make sure that the pictures are of as high quality as possible and that the top of the head of the person in the picture isn't cropped off. We also like to use photoshoot images when possible, preferably individual pictures of each cast member. When suggesting colours please keep in mind that some colours will work better than others. The Team usually tries to avoid really vibrant and dark colours because we have found in the past that they are hard to look at for long periods of time. If you would like some help coming up with colour combinations we recommend checking out the Color Palettes or Coolors websites. As we want every board to have their own unique look it is preferable that you do not link to the customisations of other boards as suggested colour schemes.

Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinions for this as you are the ones who will be posting on the board and we hope to make as many people happy with the finished result as possible. It does not matter if you are a board moderator, regular poster, or casual poster here. If you have a suggestion, please share it here with us :).

Your suggestions for possible pictures and colours will be taken into serious consideration, but in the interest of seeing every board receive the best customised look possible the final decision concerning how this board will be customised will be made by the members of the Graphics Team. This is because we want to make sure that the selected graphic and colours fit into the overall design scheme that we've established for Fan Forum.

For a full explanation of the message board customisation process, see this thread. If you have any questions, please feel free to send Mel, Chelle, or Kate a PM or ask the Team on the message board customisation thread.

Please leave this topped until a week or so after the board has been (re)customised.

Note: It usually takes approximately two weeks for us to finish making the new banner and the sooner we know what you want, the more we can work on it (though it can take a few months or so to set it up with the new colours on the board), so please let us know your suggestions as soon as possible.

When the Team have finished making the graphic I will close this thread until the graphic and colours get put up. It will then be re-opened so that you can share your thoughts about it.

I just have one suggestion, that green should be represented as well alongside the traditional Targaryen colours.

As for who should be represented on the banner, this is what I had in mind:

Alicent [Olivia Cook - "Older Version" #1 | Emily Carey "Younger Version" #1 (smaller in size).
Rhaenyra [Emma D'Darcy - "Older Version" #1 | Milly Alcock "Younger Version #1 (smaller in size).
Daemon Targaryen [Matt Smith] #1
Aemond Targaryen [Ewan Mitchelll] #1
Otto Hightower [Rhys Ifans] #1
Corlys Velaryon [Steve Toussaint] #1
Princess Rhaenys Targaryen [Eve Best] #1
Criston Cole [Fabien Frankel] #1

And maybe the dragons in a way, off in the background?

Personally I think the main featured should be Rhaenyra, Daemon, Alicent and Aemond with Otto, Corlys, Rhaenys and Criston featured on either side of those core 4. Also, we don't have to include all but there's so many characters it's hard to narrow down.

What do other posters feel should be the main featured characters?

Personally I don't think the young version should be included. :shrug: Yes, they played a big part in the first season but they also won't be in the rest of the show.

Also, if you're including all of those, I find it a bit weird not to include Aegon. I'm not even sure I would include that many of the characters because a lot of them are the same level of importance and if you start with those.. Where do you stop?

Most important to me is Alicent, Rhaenyra, Daemon and Otto. Then the nex one to me would be Aegon. If you also wanted to add Aemond, then to make it even on both sides Corlys & Rhaenys could be added. That's 8 and plenty imo.

As for the colours:

There's one idea I've been playing with where the background brushes for team green are more green toned, but I'm not sure if it'll look good. It's something we'll have to actually test and see. Personally if that doesn't work, I don't want green to be included in a big way in the colour scheme as it just clashes with the other colours (fire-y tones) I'd go for. :shrug: I'm focusing more on the aspect of it being a Targaryen story. Even members of Team Green are Targaryens so it makes sense to mainly stick to the oranges, reds (not red-red obviously) etc. :)

I wasn't sure how people felt about Milly/Emily being on, which is why it was suggested, but it's not something that would have to be added.

I do love the idea of having the 8 you mentioned:

Otto, Alicent, Rhaenyra #2, Daemon #2, Aegon, Aemond, Corlys and Rhaenys.

Because we can't do straight up Red, harsh on the eyes and all, I love the idea of fire like tones, oranges. Almost like sunset/sunrise colours??

This is just a mock up, so we can adjust of course, and if you have specificic ones in mind, we can look at those when you get a chance to share.

I just googled fire colour schemes real quick. This one comes closest to what I had in mind. The reds are muted enough to work in a banner/accent colour and the dark browns are a good accent (and close enough to black for the targaryen colour scheme).

So what I'm thinking:

No, it's fine. I'll use the three last colours for the majority of the board and the darker tones for the details like text, buttons etc.

The advantage of being the one to do the customizations. :P

What are your thoughts on the images I've linked?

In the first post I did, I had the original promos but they might be harder to work with, so I found the HD promotional from "Entertainment Weekly" and linked those in my latest post.

I like the EW pictures better. They'll also be easier to match for Aegon & Aemond. I'd remove the sideway looking ones for Rhaenyra and Daemon though. We can use the trio shoot for theirs. :nod:

Unless there are usable pictures of Dragons to use this is what I would suggest be included to represent Dragons

Thanks for that. I already have the logo ;). When collecting symbols & logos it is best to look for the highest quality possible to work with. It is no different to pictures. Generally I look for them at the start of the customisation process & see if the boards give me better than what I already have. If you know of a high quality flat/non embellished version please let me know :)
