I think writers thought people would have get drawn towards the guy who wants to be good but he's confused so he makes mistakes, but eventually everyone hated him

Well, Evan last year had to turn off the comments because people harassed him about his acting, but I don't think someone could harass Eli for something? Out of the blue, even. Like e literally does nothing except of hanging out with Evan and his friends

Yeah, maybe, even though usually that's something people to after they've been harassed, otherwise there's no need to turn off comments. He turned them off completely, he didn't even allow the ones he follows to comment, as other people do (like Evan did that at some point too)
