I admit me too. It's like they're friends, but also partners in crime, but also "enemies" or anyway they can understand each other even when they're not on the same side.

I think they never really "broke up", it was just they were on different teams, but deep down each one understood why the other was in the opposite side. Their relationship is complex, I think. In episode 8 it's clear that Monet helps Luna just because she's been cancelled and has nothing better to do, but then it looks like she cares? It's confusing, though.

then I don't get why her stans always complain about her not having friends, like when you treat people like that, what did you expect? Unless she's a real friend to Luna, but as usual they failed to show viewers that and just kept saying it.

I remember Safran and company being almost surprised that people shipped them, when they even hinted at them in the S1 posters and had always scenes together. They always said they were never intended to be romantic, like they didn't even discussed that, but still people did it. I never felt the romantic vibe, though.

People ship lots of things

I ship two characters together who are both straight but the chemistry between them was there & I loved it

You can't control shippers. But in my case the showrunner did acknowledge fans that yes there were signs, they just never did anything with the characters & only showed them with men. Here though is different since nothing was planned or done to even hint at something more than friends

With this reboot a lot of people shipped things before it even premiered. Lunet shippers were often aggressive at Safran on social media, he had to tell them several times that they had never even discussed the possibility of them. I remember once he did an AMA and specifically said to not ask about Lunet.

You know I'm not sure I fully believe him, like I doubt they didn't know what they were doing in writing them they way they did, at least in S1. Even in the posters they were always close and paired together and they had a lot of IG pics together, unlike other friendships. Plus they had to imagine that audience would have loved Monet being a lesbian, so even if it's true that also lesbians have bes friendships - obviously - Lunet could easily appeal to those who longed for that.

But it's true that you can't control shippers

like take the throuple: to Safran it was surely supposed to be the Chair of the show, beloved by everyone and eventually most people hated it and preferred the couples in it. Or even shipped Aki with Obie

Unfortunately people get ideas in their head before shows start & then get let down which causes unreasonable reactions. Or people are just too invested & unnecessarily mean even before things start.

Oh they definitely played people & tried to lure people in under false pretenses. F/F sells... realistically that wasn't really shown in the show... so they found a way to try claim it existed

It is illogical that supposedly they thought they were the Chair of the reboot. If they wanted people to ship them, they did a terrible job trying to get people to support. Their entire storyline is a mess but I won't go into that into here. Happy to take it over to their thread if you'd like

wlw sells, yet they couldn't find a love interest for Monet since Luna wasn't destined to be one. You could say that they barely managed to give her a storyline this season and a love interest would have created even messier writing, but still.

I heard people putting Lunet and Akimax shippers in the same group and I never liked it, honestly. I don't think it's the same thing, deep down.

I can understand that. However there actually was a relationship between Aki & Max. While there never was & never was going to be something between Luna & Monet so not the same situation.
