I've been thinking about this for a while, but everytime I wanted to open this thread a good week happened and people seemed interested in the board again or I asked for the other mods help, so I ended up postponing. Now that for the umptenth time the mods help ended and we had like 9 posts in two days I decided it was time.

I think that it may be time to close this board. The post count has always been great, for a board with two or three users (the good times), we've always ranked well in the monthly counts. But as you know, Fan Forum requires that we average at least 10 posts per day, with lower numbers than that leading to warnings and then possible closure of the board. I'd would prefer to go out under our own terms rather than be forced to close due to low post counts, which are inevitable now, it seems and that I always managed to avoid because I posted after myself in games, found news, tried to generate discussion and of course also thanks to the other mods help.

I wanted this board so much, I campaigned for it and I was happy when I got it. But there was never much love for this show here on Now the show has been cancelled and while I expected people losing interest for it at some point (even if it had gotten five seasons), I didn't expect for it to happen so soon, yes, even though the board has always been in a difficult situation.

I love this board because it's the only place where I can talk about the cast and the characters, but unfortunately I see there isn't much interest in keep doing so, now. This board should be a place for discussion and it should be voluntary, people have to come here and check the threads because they want to, not because I chase them asking them to post (something I'm not proud of doing).

Please let me know what you think. I'd be glad to hear any suggestions or advice to renew interest here. Remember that to keep the board going, I need the commitment of a few regular, dedicated posters. I need you to be here almost every day, yes even in games now and then, when the news are close to zero.
I'll be sad if it closes, because it's still such a young board! It's so sad. I'd be happy to keep it open if you're interested, but again: don't say you will and then it'll be again me posting after myself next week, sending you messages asking you to reply. We can still talk about the few news we get, our characters headcanons. We can keep going, if you are in, but it must be for real. As much as I love this board, please don't just post to "save" the board and then disappear again, because I'll be in the same position that I am in now if you do. It's not just because of the monthly count, it's because this place should be fun and with no one interested anymore, well, it's not.

Right now I have been busy & had some stressful weeks so barely have been doing what I need to do around , let alone going beyond that. So I haven't gotten here. I also was away last weekend so wasn't posting anywhere while normally if I'd had a bad week I'd try find the time over the weekend to stop by. The main thing for me is that I don't have the connection with the cast to wish to discuss or even follow future projects. I can discuss what may have been had the show gone on, but they annoyed me with some of their choices that it becomes hard too.

I cannot post here daily so I'm not going to promise it. I can post here when I can & when I don't just want to curl up in a ball after work like I have lately. Or I'm not away which I'll have a few weekends coming up where I may have absences but maybe by May things may settle again.

To be honest, I still think you need to relax a little when it comes to worrying over the count. No one in the Management Team checks how many posts are made daily or weekly. They will only look at if a board goes 48 hours without a post & then you might get a warning. (Which is something I do try to keep an eye on, but I also can miss things with my own boards let alone other ones I may care about). But for the monthly count that gets checked, that is only looked at based upon the posts made across the months. It doesn't matter if you get one post a day for most of the month & then a big hit of 200-300 posts over a few days. Just so long as at the end of the month when Jerry does the count you have either 310 posts in months with 31 days or 300 posts in months with 30 days.

Today for example two of my boards I'm the last poster from around 8pm last night, & it is now almost 6pm. So I'm getting to the 24 hour mark but I also know that I finish work at 3.30pm tomorrow so if no posts are made between now & when I finish work tomorrow I'd still be fine to leave both boards & post on them then. I'd be quite happy to do that as I know that overall across the week the board will pick up posts. I know that my posters & co-mod have other commitments so may not get on daily but will try to stop by when they can. On one of the boards I know the board has made at least 335 posts this month so I know I don't need to worry about the monthly count. The other board supposedly has had over 600 posts for the month so again I don't need to worry about the monthly count, & missing this one day won't matter.

But the key is having people who want to post here. That aren't posting simply because you've asked or to help out. Then also not just game threads or the OT thread as boards should be here for discussions, not just conversations. You're the best judge on if you've got that. For me, I'd be allowing the board the chance to have time without the help to see how things are. Not decide based upon a few days without the mod help being there anymore. But that may just be me

I understand, of course. Even discussion what could have been is great, though.

The problem here is that we risk seriously to go nowhere near that number, now. With users coming here like two or three times a month and posting just in a bunch of threads and mostly none of them being games, there's no chance we can reach that monthly count. Having a couple of days with 40 posts because one of them decided to post the full first page, isn't enough. 200 posts in a few days happens only when we're on the help list or when the show was on.

Exactly. Posting here should be fun and people have to want it. If posting becomes "helping" then it'ìs not what the board is here for. People shouldn't post to "help" me or anyone, or because I beg them to. They should do it because they want to.
I believe we can go on with discussing characters and headcanons or make survivors, then commenting the cast stuff even if it's not much. I tried many times to start discussion asking what people imagine for the characters for example in college or jobs. We can discuss what we think happened pre-pilot. People can share their own questions too, of course, because it would be nice if I didn't do everything by myself A lot of boards about past/ended shows do that. But people have to want it.

I need to know if there's still interest in trying to keep the board open. I'd like to, but I can't be alone.

I am really sorry to see this, and sorry that you have to go through this sorry for the fans of the show too, you were doing great here As a past show board mod myself, I can say that If you want to keep the board, 10 daily posts per month is not that hard to achieve, do not worry about it.

But, I support whatever decision you make.

I never moderated a past show board, because both the ones I did closed voluntary after the show ended (Nikita) and was cancelled (Smash). But I see that a lot of others are still alive and with fans discussing things. It would be great if we could do the same here. The thing is that I'm not sure.


I hope the other two people that used to post here will show up and say what they think of this. Jules already told me, before I opened this, that if there aren't users maybe the board should close. I had asked her to come at least two or three times a week, but she said it's difficult without much to discuss and that she'll try to help (but again, if posting here it's considered "help" and not sharing and discussing then it's already meaningless) but not often.

Sorry it's come to this. It's never easy having to make a decision like this.

Considering I don't have access to HBO Max, I can't really post much about the show. I only know what I know about the triad because a shipper took all their scenes and compiled them into a document that's easy to access.

I don't mind continuing my normal posting spree and coming by a few times a week... given if I have time and am able to. Though, when it comes down to it, I am more in the boat of closing a board on your own time than having it closed down because of strikes. I've had to make that difficult choice with a few of my boards before.

I'm ok with whatever you choose. If you close it, I know it's for the best and you didn't make the choice easily. If you keep it open, I'll still come by whenever I can.

I’m sorry to hear about the situation here. I know it’s tough and not an easy decision. I had to make that decision for The Office board way back in the day which killed me because that was my baby. But I definitely wanted to go out on our terms. It’s tough when the conversation/posting/posters just aren’t there. It gets to feeling like a chore to mostly be talking and posting to yourself most of the time or begging for people to post. I would just see the responses you do or don’t get from this post and do what you feel is best.

I'm aware, but we still can talk about what the cast is doing, like Evan is often busy. Now I posted three times in his thread and about three different things and I got no reply. I post every news I find or pic, plus as I said we can talk about the characters pre-pilot ot their future. We could try survivors as you said or even have a posting challenge with another board, maybe? But you and other users have to come here, otherwise I can't do anything of these things by myself.

I know we can't go on for a decade, of course! But still a little bit more we can do. if you all stop by even three times a week and make a posting spree - so not coming here every two weeks and then posting in just two threads. I'm not asking to have big numbers, just to stay above the minimum and still comment what we can about the show or cast. Other past shows board can do it. I wish we had the number of posters that the OG board had, but we don't, so we have to make it work just in two or three.


I know it's not a job, I know you can't promise anything, but if you still feel that you're interested, we can do it. By "you" I mean all the regular posters we had until now.

Maybe we can try another month and see what happens? You know how I feel now, so you're aware of the situation because we talked about it. Try us all to do our best and actively try to engage in discussions?

For now the board stays open. I decided to give it a try for another month and see what happens, if it can make it and if people still show up so that we can reach the monthly minimum by also discussing stuff. I hope we will, of course.

This thread remains stuck, for now.
