I'm a Kayak, Hear Me Roar - Discussion

Lorelai works up the courage to tell her parents about the breakup of her marriage; Emily institutes a no-alcohol policy at a Friday-night dinner to help Richard recover from his heart attack.

I enjoyed the epi also.

I liked that Emily reached out to Lorelai and she kind of jumped out her skin when Emily touched her...but then of coures Emily showed her true colors the following morning. It's like Lor can't catch a break from her mother but I guess we saw it coming.

I loved seeing the Townies even though it was only for a few moments.

TJ and Liz were funny and Dula is super adorable!

The maid was too funny when she was putting Richards plate down whispering. OMG I was laughing so hard.

And finally I didn't yawn over a Logan and Rory scene for once this year!!!

I can't believe it... I was actually smileing nearly through the whole thing....This is weird.
-What a great Gilmore filled episode. I adored the Lorelai/Emily connection. Oh how I wished there would be a hug there! ...sigh.
-I love Liz & TJ. Them crashing at Luke's and talking about him I thought was likeable. I'm glad that they're concerned about Luke. And Doula's adorable.
-Chris-free episode.
-I htought the maid was hilarious for some reason. Hiding and whispering.
-I actually enjoyed Rory/Logan too. Rory throwing him a Gilmore-party. Hah. Twister and Pin-the-tail-on-the-moose.
-Miss Patty and Babette's code was cute. And Kirk's confusion. LOL
-I'm also glad that they gave Richard's recovery some screen time.

They WILL find a wormhole!

Sorry, just had to start with that.

I'm loving Liz. She's awesome. I love the way Luke is when he's with her, he just seems to happy to be around his family, and whenever he see's Doula he gets this proud uncle thing going on, and I really enjoy that.

I thought it was really cute that Rory was trying to make up for Logan's missed birthdays. I'm really loving that relationship this season. I think Logan is like the Gilmore Girls way of making up for the loss of Tristan (personal opinion) He's got the whole reformed bad-boy thing going on, like all of us Trory fans prophesized for Tristan, and heck, if we can't have him, we may as well have the equivalent. I love Logan

Ms. Patty and Babette were funny funny funny! I loved their whole Beagle/Rooster/Hen thing, it was just great.

And Ms. Patty is right. The Hen CLEARLY belongs with the Rooster!

I really liked all of the references to Luke and Lorelai, and how when Liz was mentioning it Luke wasn't like "It'll never happen!" he said "We're friends" and as we've seen in the past, friends can be in love, as, I believe, Luke and Lorelai are.

Emily and Lorelai were great in this episode! So great! I felt bad for Lorelai when Emily sobered up, but when they were both drinking I liked how Emily seemed to really connect with Lorelai. I don't think they should change the dynamic of their relationship because I think it's really important to the show to have that friction, but I really like their cute mother/daughter moments. I also really liked how Lorelai proved herself to be a completely self-sufficient independent woman, we need more role-models like that in the media.

All in all, I thouroughly enjoyed the episode, and I haven't been able to see scenes for next week, so I'm really eager for them to update the CW website!

Surprisingly, I wasn't exasperated by Liz and TJ's presence as I usually am. They still aren't my favorite, but I almost enjoyed their screen time, which is, for me, saying more than a lot.

I loved the scenes between Rory and Logan. Their sceens continue to show growth and maturity in their relationship, and they were all-around a happy couple in their scenes. I was heartbroken, of course, when Logan received his call from Phillip (whose terrible British accent make me rethink my support of the Boston Tea Party).

I'm still trying to figure out bits and pieces of Mitchum's conversation with Rory and RL at the dinner table. The chef? The Huntzberger connections? I'm not too sure if the writers of this particular episode is less-than-handy in the anvil department, but I suppose we shall see in time.

And Lorelai being all business-savy? Loved it. I love independent, businesswoman Lorelai. I've missed her.

Delightful. Loved the worm hole comment. I also loved how the theme song started as L&R were heading down the road together. I love these new writers and I think now that they got rid of most of ASP's mess, it's going to be great. So much progress happened within this episode and the little touches were perfect.

Am I the only one who found this episode boring? There was nothing much going on and the few good scenes were Emily/Lorelai drunk and the Babbette/Miss Patty discussion. I'll leave my thoughts on the nauseating couple for another thread.

They got rid of the Aerie Girls. They got rid of Christopher. Then we get – yawn.

This episode had good moments, mostly at the Mansion. And it was a relief to finally be able to watch without that sadly familiar feeling of disgust. But my relief palled before the hour was over. This episode felt like filler not sweeps. Isn’t it time to get on with the show?

The episode was so cute, I couldn't stop smiling through out the whole thing!

Loved the start, Lorelai going and telling Rory first was awesome, I missed when they use to do that. Them running out of gas was funny Loved Rory's reaction to the parent split! It totally made sence, it didn't make me mad when she said she was excited about it at first because it made sence. Her child hood dream finally came true and she got to enjoy that for a little while and I'm glad! But what she said after just had me and my sister looking at eachother nodding and smiling hard! Even Rory wasn't comfortable with her parents together and that was clear through out the whole season. Almost everything that David wrote at the start of the season that made me mad has now been explained to me. I will be able to go back and watch episodes without freaking out and being mad about a certain scene! The scene in 7.08 where Lorelai goes to talk to Rory, I couldn't enjoy, I wanted to enjoy it so bad because it was such a sweet scene but I couldn't because of everything Rory was saying...now I can

I adored Emily and Lorelai, they had great scenes even before Emily got drunk. Yay she finally understands Lorelai and agrees with her! Wow thats so great! Sad it took so long but who cares! Aww me and my sister were sqealing when she put her hand on Lorelais shoulder and told her she was going to be fine was so heart warming! I also really loved Emilys explination on life, how life is a canoe and she is stuck paddeling all alone and Lorelai is a Kayak, very good metaphor! hehe"I'm a Kayak, hear me roar!" that was funny! The end was sad though she totally ignored the fact that her and Lorelai had done some serious bonding!

Logan and Rory were cute this episode, I love how she tried to fit every bit of each one of her birthdays into his, that was cute! His father was... um wow. He actually was nice but at the same time a complete and total jerk! He got his way, Logan is working for him in Londan, its time for Logan to do what he wants to do. I'm really glad Michem gave Rory some credit for Logans change though, I always thought Rory had alot to do with it. It wasn't all her though, Logan was the one that wanted to change. Aww I am really feeling for him right now, he just lost everything!

lol Liz and TJ were awesome, even though TJ was dissing Lorelai and Luke, I still found him funny! Liz was so funny and sweet, she was trying to get Luke back with Lorelai now that Chris is gone, everyone is back to there old self! I'm really glad they brought up the thing about her saying she didn't think they made a good match though cause that would have bugged me, she was totally anti Lorelai at the start of the season and now she is anti...anti. Them ignoring that would have made me mad! Aww Luke laying in bed soking in everything Liz was saying was great, you could see how much he agreed!

Ahh I loved Ms. Pattey and Babbet, lol there nicknames for Chris, Lorelai and Luke were hilarious and Kirk actually taking it litteral had me on the floor laughing (not litterally) Oh I also loved the doctor! hehe she wouldn't take any trash from Emily! Business Lorelai was great, love her and missed her! I love seeing Lorelai all mature, don't get me wrong, I love funny witty Lorelai but it was nice to see her as a business women, we never get to see her at the dragonfly doing anything really important and business-y!

Anyway it was a great episode! 10/10

Why do you think it was a filler? I think it was a great episode and we really went forward in one of the major SL aka the relationship between Lorelai and her mother.
We started a new SL with RL, we had hopeful signs on Luke's side, we had funny, very GG-like moments.

What else do we need?
