I think my favorite realationship this season is Luke and Lorelai, there realtionship has really grown I can't wait to see what happens between them.

This season has been exceptional!!!!!

Especially coming off Season Three and the many differences that had to be dealt with the start of the new season!!

I can only imagine what is in store for us!!!!

Luke and Lorelai have difinitely made major strides. I sure hope Nicole is on her way out!!! And Jason....I really like him with Lorelai....but he is turning out to be a little too odd for her. If it weren't for Luke....maybe it would be fun to see her turn him around.

I really am having Season One and Two flashbacks!!!!

But Luke deserves his woman....and that sure isn't Nicole!!! It's the lovely Lorelai. Hope we get something major before the summer!!!

I've definitely been loving the Lorelai/Luke interaction this season and I think that the addition of Liz was brilliant!

I wish they would start repeating some episodes from this season. I'm missing 410-414 and those were some of my favorite episodes too

gg_obsessed 03-16-2004 02:50 PM

I would have to agree that something has happened in Lorelai and Emily's relationship! I think that is my fave this season too!

Cotton Candy 03-16-2004 04:57 PM

Oh, I definitely agree! Last season, we didn't have any good dramatic Lorelai/Emily moments, except maybe in the first two episodes. This season, we're really getting some substantial L/E stuff, which is great!

ilovetheshins 03-16-2004 05:49 PM

Seems like first part of this season, they tried to focus too hard on the Rory-Lorelai separation anxiety, except they didn't get it quite right.

But now, with all the great Emily scenes, the show feels a lot more balanced, and I feel as if the Rory-Lorelai scenes are gelling together quite nicely.

Season 4 post-winter-hiatus has been really impressive. What is it going to take to turn some of those sourpuss critics around? This season, just in the past few episodes, already blows all of collective Season 3 out of the water. That makes the earlier episodes season more excusable. (Personally, I didn't find them as awful as others did, and certainly not as bad as the some of the flat-out not-good episodes of Season 3.)

Cotton Candy 03-16-2004 06:13 PM

Wow, I agree with so much of what you said. Yes, the most recent handful of episodes have been awesome! I hope the season ends with the same kind of quality that we've been getting lately.

Season 4 hasn't aired yet, but it is soon I can't wait for it.

Yeah, I have really liked this season, except for those two awful episodes, Chicken or Beef? and The Festival of Living Art. Both of those belonged in season 3.

Breakdown of the season:

Favorite Relationship: Luke/Lorelai and lately Lorelai/Emily
Favorite Lorelai/Rory episode: LFDAY
Fave Luke/Lorelai episode: ITCAC and NH (tie)
Fave Guest Appearance: Liz or Pennilyn Lott
Fave Character who was Dropped: Marty
Fave New Character: Jason
Funniest episode: TFTA (Rory's disastrous date, Paris's rant, Luke and Lorelai's movie night, Emily's comment about Sex and the City, Lorelai and Rory's discussion about Naked Guy, Emily's phone conversation with Luke)
Favorite Teaser: LFDAY (I never get tired of seeing Lorelai's "going off to college walk.")
Favorite Ending: COB (I hate that episode but the last scene is so sad.) or The Reigning Lorelai
Favorite Townie Episode: ITCAC
Favorite Scene with music: "Mona Lisa" at the Firelight Festival in NH

I think the biggest change between season 3 and 4 has been the development of Lorelai's character. She became so whiny and rude in season 3. We've really seen the best of her in several episodes this season:

Motherly with Lane
Supportive of Sookie
Helpful to Emily
Flirtatious with Jason
Gentle with Luke
Loving with Rory, but also in a strict way

In short, she's been a good mother, daughter, and friend.

curly, wonderful breakdown of the season thus far. I completely agree that Lorelai's 3-D human-ness has made this season all the more believable, which makes it more endearing, funny, sympathetic and dramatic all-around.

Lorelai has become more mature this season, despite her usual trappings of Lorelai-ness. Those qualities will never disappear, which is fine, but it is important to see that she can react appropriately when necessary. All of her relationships (with Rory, Emily, Luke, Lane, Sookie) have been believable and have contributed a different side of her that we always knew she had the potential to possess.

One moment that has stuck out in my mind was how upset Lorelai had become in AFTR when she found out that Jason had upstaged her mother. There was a split second of "awww, I love seeing Lorelai defend her mother." But then, augh! She seemed to indicate she was upset only becuase her mother had cancelled Lorelai and Sookie's catering gig. Two sides of Lorelai, exposed with seconds.

In addition to Lorelai, I feel as if Rory and Emily have shown tremendous growth, change, etc. Rory thrown into the concept of rejection and embarrassment (with Williams), and flat-out discomfort (with Paris and Asher). Emily...well, we all know Emily has had to deal with quite a few blows this season (Pennilyn, Trix, Richard's midlife crisis), and Kelly Bishop is simply outdoing herself this season, which I think we are all relishing.

I do believe Season 1 was magic, and Season 2 was hilarious in a great way, but the acting has finally revved it up a few notches, and all is falling into place. In particular, Alexis Bledel has come into her own, and you can see she feels comfortable there, which really complements the chops of Lauren and Kelly. The situations aren't annoying - e.g. no more love triangles or flat-out JJ denial. Everything is fitting into place, which is beautiful for the viewer to experience.

OK, rant over. This could go on forever...
