I read that Kelly Bishop visited him in the hospital :

That's good that she was able to say goodbye and send love from Lauren and the others.

I'm so sad to hear this. He was a fantastic actor- deserved an Emmy for his performance.

He will be missed.

I couldn't help to cry when I read the news :( I will always love and remember his work as Richard Gilmore, which was such a pleasure to watch...Gosh, I'm sad.

RIP Edward. Glad to know Kelly was able to say goodbye and send him love from the Gilmore family.

It makes me sad that Edward Herrmann is no longer with us. He left a legacy of his brilliant acting abilities which we will cherish always. RIP Richard Gilmore.

I Have been so so down about this. It's tragic and im really sad about this lose. This show, his character, filled my life with so much joy for the last ten years. I'm heart broken.
