Stacey said it on the JJ thread.. thank God that we didn't have to wait 7 weeks for this episode.. i'm really disappointed about the lack of JJ closeness.. i was really hoping that the ep would pick up right where last week's left off. i'm glad they're back together.. and glad that lorelai isn't upset that luke came to her even after emily's first vist. SO HAPPY that lorelai told off emily.. and happy that rory is still indifferent to emily.

i don't hate emily. i just hate how condescending she speaks about luke.. didn't really pay attention to the rory stuffs.. but laughed when rory rejected logan.

michel winning the RV was pretty funny.. of course he wanted the cash! haha.. kirk being a squatter was pretty funny.. why does he always seem to be naked???

my thoughts.. sorry they're jumbled.. just happy LL are back together and happy. :)

Gilmrgrladdict 03-08-2005 07:15 PM

yeahh total JJ dissapointment.. but at least they r backtogether and their time will come!!

Tonights episode was a great episode for Java Junkies and Sophies. I really liked the episode for all of it except surprisenly the Quenton Territino party. I thought the Quenton party was abit poorly done and abit boring.

Luke Lorelai  This was a great night for them as a couple. I really liked it when they were talking about Rory dating other guys at the same time they really seemed like a Husband and Wife talking about a daughter. It was soo cute about the Regge cd and the Lorelai telling him that she was playing different different songs and he thought it was the same one :P The coffee bit was cute also.

Now the cellphone bit. It was cute that Lorelai put here number on speed dial, but i never thought that it would come in handy. When Luke took out the cell phone and just pushed 1 for Lorelai's cell when Emily was ranting to him was completly unexpected and clever. Emily really needs to take the stick out of her behind. She was beyond rude to Luke. If i was Luke, it would have been a repeat of last weeks episode of flying people. I was glad when Lorelai just told her off.

I was really hoping for Taylor in the episode, but Kirk collecting the ribbons was almost as good. Kirk seems so Loyal to Luke and Lorelai, that it was cute when he was determined to get every ribbon. I really liked how they're giving Kirk more of a story line. It was soo funny that after the talk with Luke he just complously leaves his mothers house and then has no place to stay. I didn't expext him to be sleeping in Lukes boat with a Batman/Superman blanket ( which my older sister who is a major Batman fan would love) I was more expecting him to be at Lukes. It was sweet of Lorelai to let him stay in Rorys room for the night, since Kirk does alot for her and Luke. But i would change the sheets after he left :P

I some-how have this impression that Rory is manipulating Logan into the whole relationship with strings. I got that impression when she was talking to Lorelai last and was saying how Logan was jealous. You could tell that she isn't ok with Logan dating other people when she saw him the two times with Whitney. The first Logan/Rory seen together i really liked. I like that they broke into the caffiterea, but i really want to know when Logan got the keys. I think that Rory could have a better choice in cereal then Coco Puffs. Try Crunch Berries. ;)

Michel was a bit annoying today. I really could have done without him in the episode. The whole camper thing seemed just a filler.

Well here is my take on the last episode before the hiatus. :D
Melis.

Too much Kirk, Michel, Rory and her games. I blame it on Lauren Graham's obvious cold.

Lorelai can't tell Rory she thinks what she's doing isn't her because she knows if she calls her on it she won't speak to her. That's very sad. She's wrong though. It is Rory to not just tell a guy she wants him. She has to play games. It's infuriating.

I say this because I care and they could SO easily remedy this for the better. Luke and Lorelai, while sweet and still instantly enjoyable in any capacity, are starting to become boring or at the very least frustrating. They're exactly as they were 5 months ago despite the necessary and fulfilling Breakup Trilogy. We see them go to dinner, she goes to the diner, occassionally we see her in his flannel and if we're lucky we get a kiss that lasts more than 5 seconds (see last week). I know we should be thankful for any of that because for 4 years we didn't have any of those things, but you see the same stuff for 5 months and it gets repetative (and redundant). I think they need to brainstorm some ideas of what they can do as a couple during this hiatus, because with this as the last episode for a while, everyone who was all HOORAY GG ROCKS AGAIN are going to be asking themselves if the elation is still worth if after all of the stuff that was exciting 5 months ago has now become mundane.

Loved and adored the "SHUT UP!" I audibly gasped. And yet somehow you feel for both Lorelai and Emily, which is undoubtedly the tell-tale sign of a good, uncontrived Emily/Lorelai fight.

aahh.. Lex... you noticed the cold too.. i heard it mostly when she was outside of the RV trying to kinda apologize to michel..
and WORD to all of it.. this wasn't one of their best eps.. it was nice to see LL back together.. though.. they did seem to just resort back to the old antics of the beginning of the season, can you say recycling?? anyways..

band_freak62 - there is a recap on the JJ board.. i'm not sure which pages though.. Gilmoregrladdict or something like that recapped it for us..

I loved seeing Logan get jealous tonight! Playing a little hard-to-get has always done Rory well in relationships!

I also really felt for Lorelai when she was freaking out about Rory's cas' dating; she knows from first hand experience that meddling when she disapproves of her daughter's relationship won't go well, but a the same time feels that she should cuz her relationship with Rory is different than Emily's with her. Make any sense to anyone else?

Blah...come on ASP that's the best your crew could come up with?

Logan and Rory had no spark. Luke and Lorelai were worse. Come on where is the joy of being back in each others lives? Yes they talked about it....but where was the affection?

I hate the way Emily and Richard talk about Luke. Filthy diner owner.....Emily is beyond rude and deserves nothing from Lorelai or Luke.

Michel stuff was boring. Too much naked Kirk.

I did like Luke and Kirk talking. Symbolism....my mother is alergic to Lulu.
Emily seems to be alergic to Luke!

Luke and Lorelai in the kitchen. Nice scene and great talk about Rory. You can tell how conflicted she is about Rory's life. Lorelai knows she can't pull an 'Emily' but she sure is having thoughts. Nice touch because it is so real.

This one didn't float my boat but I'm sure glad Luke's boat is back in Lorelai's garage.....both of them!!

I'm sure the next set of episodes will be much better.

Boy, ASP are you ever going to give us something?????

Oh, yes! And Rory's relationships have always worked out so beautifully! Let's see if I can remember that far back. Guy #1 left her for a wife and Guy #2 left her for California. Awesome! I love Rory's life. Her love life especially. Sooo envious. Girl's got real skills with the dudes. This one should turn out great. How could the top her previous successes? Perhaps Logan will marry a trophy wife and move to Italy! Not that Rory would care, because she has his balls and that's all she needs because they're "fun" and so "college"!

Shouldn't she have been at the bookstore at some point you know, for her job? We are so never going to see her there again. Sorry, Randolph, we know you tried. And while we're talking abou the nonjobs Rory has, how has she not gotten fired from the paper? She walks out during staff meetings and ditches her story b/c her ***** buddy needs coffee? Puh-lease. Maybe that's why I don't dig her character. Everything about her is so.freaking.unrealistic!

I ranted. Deal with it. I sat through 4 hours of NakedKirk...or it seemed like it anyway.

However, your second paragraph, I totally get and agree with. Kudos. :D

1) Good to see Lulu again. Hope Kirk moves in with her. Yeah she deserves better. But it'll let us see more Lulu. Liked Luke showing concern for Luke and giving him a talking to. I wonder if Lorelai is going to tell Rory about letting Kirk use her bed?

2) Michel with his shopping, botox, and sunglasses has crossed the line from ambiguous metrosexuality to decidedly not heterosexual. Just have him come clean. You've got Jared under contract.. pair him with Dean.

3) Rory went to a play in New York with Lorelai? Either Rory is lying or they are trying to rewrite the show to make Rory more cultured. I remember Rory and Lorelai being almost militantly parochial. When anyone brings up anything remotely culturally I think I recall Rory mentioning some silly town production or event rather than an exciting trip outside the confines of Star Hollow.

That's not to say that now that she is in college she shouldnt be doing stuff like that. So was good to see her getting out a bit this episode.

4) Luke and Lorelai seemed almost a bit too comfortable coming back together so quickly. Except for the reggae issue. And I figured Lorelai wouldnt mind Luke being a bit more rasta. :)

5) When Rory said no strings I took that to mean for their one night. Not that if they went out they'd be free to sleep with *cough*cough* see other people. I don't think or at least one would HOPE she didnt mean that and it was just an excuse she gave to her mother.

Maybe everything has changed dramatically in the short time I've been away from college but I seem to recall "friends with priveleges" meaning two things. First two friends who decide it would be neat to sleep with each other and quickly they realize what they've done and either they go out or don't talk with each other for a month. Or second people who are going out but dont really want to admit it so they invent a new term for it.

6) Rory seemed to show a decided lack of self-respect in not putting her foot down and talking straight with Logan. It reminded me a bit of Lindsay. If I could just do something to win him back everything will be perfect. I don't mind her being hurt from this so she can learn and for the sakes of karma.

7) I liked that she told Lorelai and I liked Lorelai's reaction. That she expressed disapproval. I also liked the parallel being drawn between her relationship with Rory and her relationship with Emily. In Lorelai's case she's afraid to talk straight with Rory because playing the mother card never seems to work out well for her. And in past seasons it hasn't. When Rory has messed up either throws a fuss trying to make people feel sorry for her and "punishing" herself (a good trick for any of you still in school. you always come out ahead since YOU determine when the punishment ends). And in the rare case where her mother is insistent on putting her foot down over something even mild she acts extremely (like running running to the grandparents). While Rory hasn't done much to cause any problems so it hasn't really been THAT much of an issue, Lorelai still walks on glass around Rory.

Emily in contrast doesn't hold her tongue on what she thinks is best for daughter. And Lorelai like Rory doesnt take too findly to someone firmly disagreeing with her. In this episode Lorelai basically tells her mother to shutup and never offer advice unless it's sought out first. Yet Lorelai wants to do exactly what Emily is doing. Offer advice that she feels can help her daughter avoid what she viewers as a horrific misstep. Hopefully Lorelai will see this connection and it'll serve as a basis for her putting her own mothers (sometimes good but often times inappropriate) advice into context and bring about a reconcilation between the two.

8) Robert wasn't terribly likeable. But it was planned that way on purpose. She was probably smart in trying to avoid the stronger drinks he was offering. Wouldn't be shocked if he tried slipping her a roofy.

9) Rory of course looked nice in her retake of the schoolgirl look via Chiaki Kuriyama. Though personally I would've preferred Bridget Fonda in Jackie Brown. :)

10) Rory asked Robert what his last name was. But Lorelai didnt ask the one question a lot of us were wondering and probably was foremost in her mind. Did Rory sleep with Robert?

11) Was did the outfit Lorelai was trying on in the mirror for her date with Luke look like something Rory would wear? I guess thanks to Kirk wasnt much of a date.

12) Rory's ploy worked in getting Logan jealous. But the question is to what end? She talked about safe sex and condoms. Monogamy is included in that. Not only YOU being monogamous but him being so. Can she keep his eyes only on her? Is it worth trying?

Quote from Lorelai. "Sounds like all the balls are in your corridor."

Well, considering she's only 20 and has had two boyfriends before, I wouldn't have expected those relationships to work out perfectly.

Relationships are supposed to be one of her weaknesses though. They made that a point in S1, and it's been obvious since then. It's a weakness of both Lorelai and Rory and in some respects, at least regarding Lorelai, Emily. I don't think it's a big deal, and I think it makes for some interesting stories.

Not sure about the job, but I thought that was something she only took on for spring break to earn a little extra cash. Obviously very short job, but I never thought she'd be working there for very long. You never know if it will show up again though.

I enjoyed the episode. Not a favorite, and I don't think it's the best, but I enjoyed it.

I love Finn, and I actually really liked Robert in this episode.
