Idg where people got this false impression of Jess from. He's inconsistent, inconsiderate and just overall a bad person. It's not even difficult to see.
|
It's because of their shared interest in literature, otherwise, I really can't see the appeal. He was by far her unhealthiest relationship on the show.
|
Being able to read doesn't make you a decent person  He's definitely her unhealthiest relationship

No, it doesn't. And maybe it has something to do with this romanticized notion of the good girl saving the damaged bad boy? I can handle that SL to a certain extent, but the fact that he never really outgrew his rudeness and temper and was so darn possessive, even in the latter season cameos, that bugged the hell out of me.

That whole dynamic is toxic. The idea that it is a woman's job to save a man is incredibly disgusting. Seriously damaging.

Yeah people shouldn't be in the position of saving people

Helping and supporting, sure, but saving?:yawn:

Saving is a disgusting potentially abusive dynamic.

Although lbr, if any character had the potential to be abusive on this show, it's Jess.

I dunno I think he cared for Rory in his own way. Jess is a very interesting character in how he acts towards things and people. I'm still in the process of watching more.
|
He cared for her as a possession and someone he could control by yelling at, that's all the "caring" I saw in the original series. He was never there for her when it counted.
