It's the first thing he says and instantly it's set up for how gross he is. Who says that in front of their daughter? You're not cute and funny, Chris. You're gross and terrible.

If the intent for the line was for it to be funny, it failed to be that to me. It makes me cringe. That entire first episode with Chris I couldn't stand him. From that first line to then asking Lorelai to marry him. What a deadbeat loser. Instantly I knew this guy was going to be huge thorn and I was going to loathe every time he came back. And god was I right.

The whole "Lor" and "kiddo" thing. I want to tell him to shut his face when he refers to Lorelai and Rory as those. Her name is LORELAI you wet sock. It's literally only you who calls her Lor, which makes it all the more annoying. It doesn't make is sweet or cute or this nice thing only you do, it just comes off and kinda condescending. And lmao, you as a deadbeat, haven't earned any right to call Rory by a nickname.

I wouldn’t put it past him. Rory is after all, only of any concern to him when he can use her to score points with or to get with Lorelai.

Or to score points with Sherry. His weekly phone calls became just that only when he was with Sherry. But notice how they stopped after the whole thing of Chris cheating on Sherry with Lorelai, then going back to her. Once he had Gigi, Rory was cast aside.

And it's not even like he was this active parent to Gigi. Sure he was there because he and Sherry were married and lived together, but as we see when Sherry left, he had nothing to do with actually raising Gigi because after less than a day of being alone with her, he was a mess and had to call Lorelai for help.
