Hey,
I've been wanting to make this thread for a while now. If there is one couple on the planet from TV, movies, or literature that you love above all others, who is it????? I'm just interested to know ppl's choices. Please include a small description as to why you love them.

Well mine is pretty obvious!!!!!!!!!

Christopher and Lorelai (Gilmore Girls)

They understand each other to their core. They have a palpable attraction. They are so warm to each. They both have had fear of commitment over the years and a lack of maturity to commit. They also tho understand their own shortcomings as people, especially Chris. They both have felt bad over their mistakes. Chris and Lor respect each others opinions, and cherish what the other thinks and feels on things. Their banter is sparkling. They engage on the same cerebral level. I love that they finally got married in "French Twist". I just wish the manipulated and contrived break-up had never happened. With the the first 7 eps of season 7, and all their moments in the seasons before, C/L were shown that they are made for each other. I don't think there will ever be a better suited couple on TV.

As I have two couples fighting for that same spot, it's not the easiest thing in the world to pick which is better. One barely got any time together due to the show only consisting of 14 episodes and they didn't officially become a couple until at the end of the movie that followed the show, the other has been much more explored and I think I have to base my decision on that, because I love both couples to death and is otherwise unable to choose.

Lorelai and Luke (Gilmore Girls)

They are more than just a couple, they are best friends taking that extra step towards each other. At the same time they feel more real than any other couple on television. They don't have absolutely everything in common, but that's part of what makes them so appealing. They understand and accept each other completely for the people they are and have no desire to change one another. As friends they went up and beyond the call of duty to help one another and as a couple this didn't change. Luke is the one person Lorelai doesn't feel the need to stay strong for. She lets him in on her fears and insecurities and he's always there for her. And her for him.

What they've shown upthrough the show is that no matter what places they are in their lives, together, apart, fighting; the one thing that hasn't changed is that the minute one of them needs help, support... anything in that effect, the other is there in a heartbeat. Even though they were broken up, Luke showed up when Lorelai called and said she needed her best friend by her side. And although they hadn't spoken in six months, Lorelai rushed to the hospital to be by Luke's side when April got sick.

They have their own way of communicating, not just with their banter, which is like a language in its own, but they can read each other like an open book. Luke immediately knows when something's bothering Lorelai or if something's not quite right, because he knows her so well, knows to pick up the signals. And most importantly they speak through their actions more than words. To use ASP's description of it, as it really says it best; these two people say 'I love you' to each other every single day through their actions. The only times the words are deemed necessary is if the actions are lacking.

And my most important reason for loving these two people so incredibly much; they love each other so much that they are willing to let the other go. Luke was willing to keep his own feelings to himself, even though it killed him to do so, because he thought Lorelai was happy with Max and her happiness was more important to him than his own. And he did it again in 7x02. And Lorelai, when Luke said he was out in 5x14, she let him go, because she honestly thought that was what he wanted. To love someone so much that all you want is for that person to be happy, even if it might mean with someone else than you, for me that's the ultimate kind of love, because it's selfless.

Nice to have a total C/L fan in me, and a huge L/L fan in you to start his thread off. We both have totally opposite views, but it's nice we can express them as a matter of interest.

It's just that from the moment i started watching this show i fell in love with LL. in the beginning i wasn't so obsessed as i'm now. i think this obsession started in s4.
Now...it would be stupid for me to write why i love them cause i would write probably everything Guro wrote. i totally agree with her. banter, chemistry, friendship, love for each other....they are perfect.

Why? Luke has always been there for Lor. No matter what. When Lorelai was depressed, he was there to be the good listener. When Lorelai was excited about marrying into Max, he was the first person Lorelai gave to. He was there when Rory graduated Chilton, he made Rory a special breakfast on her birthday. The reason just say it all...

Thanks for responding, guys!!!!!!! Interesting to know how many of you pick L/L as your OTP. I can't stand them, and find them prickly, and cold. They do things for each other, but I find it is all done in a possessive and controlling way. There is no deep tenderness or affection. Plus, they just think the other is crazy with their likes and dislikes. They put each other down a lot. I like reading how your feelings clearly differ from mine. Anyway, back to the OTPness.

but i see that like this, Luke always pretends he's annoyed with Lorelai, but the truth is that he's loving it, every crazy thing she does. that's why he loves her so much. same thing with her.
their banter is so much different then LC, they are "fighting" all the time, but they have much more in common than we think.

but that's probably why you don't like them and i do.

Guro made a very good post and I agree with it so I'm not going to say it all over again

I mean the chemistry between those two is just amazing. The banter, the wit, the dirtiness. The sparks are flying everywhere and it's awesome how you can see that even on a picture. Lauren and Scott just have the je ne sais quoi

Just take this week's episode for example. I haven't seen Lorelai THAT happy all season and she just got her best friend back. The last scene deserved so many dirties and the sparkle is finally back in her eyes.

Oh and don't get me started on their kisses LC's lip lock in episode 4 Come on - I have never seen Lorelai that stiff in someone else's arms before. There was absolutely no chemistry in their scenes. They just don't flow. It doesn't look natural. Their scenes really look like work you know. They try to make it seem like everything is easy going, having fun and all that jazz but to me it doesn't come across that way. It's exhausting, tiring and BORING I'd rather sit under a tree and glue rocks together for two hours before I can find LC interesting.

beautifullauren- Personally, I think it's just ugly antagonism with L/L. They really irritate each other. There is a little flirtyness to it, but basically they drive each other mad. They are just not emotionally close, either. I see them as good for a little dalliance, but not a lifelong partnership of harmony and total meeting of hearts and minds. Again tho, the fact that I see them this way is why I don't ship them. You feeling that they do work well is why you ship them. Thanks for the little detour. It was nice to hear your thoughts.

smeagolkitten- I really didn't mean to insult anyone. I was just amazed at how many of you love L/L as your OTP. I just found it funny since I'm so not a fan of them. It was also just interesting for me to read your views. I wanted to express that even tho my thoughts on L/L are different from all of you, I still get lots of enjoyment out of reading your opinions on your OTP couple. Sorry, if I offended anyone. That was not my intention. Anyway, back to new ppl posting their fav pair!!!!!!!
