I don't ignore his past, I also think he has seen a lot of bad things - but everyone is responsible for themselves and he was different to Rory too - he was kind to her. But he hurt people who meant well with him. I could understand his initial dislike for adults, or that he was so reserved and cautious, but his extremely bad and disrespectful behavior, e.g. towards Lorelai on the porch, I found that wrong, but that's precisely why I think it's so good that he himself so well developed and later appreciated what Luke did for him.

personally I think that Lorelai overstepped the boundaries a bit there with not fully understanding his situation but that’s me

But if there are only appreciation threads here, then you can never talk about the negative in the show. Also, I didn't speak negatively about him, but positively, I just mentioned that I didn't like him at the beginning, that's not anti in my opinion. I see things differently with Lorelai, but that's a different matter.

I'm not surprised that there are a lot of fanfictions where Jess is Luke's best man and Rory is Lorelai's maid of honor. When I've thought about Luke and Lorelai getting married, I've always pictured Jess and Rory standing beside them.

It makes me sad too. I bet Rory's Jess box is filled with books, CDs and other mementos that connected them and still remind her of him.


Yes! They really are a special pairing. They connected on so many levels, and their bond has only gotten stronger as they've grown up.

I definitely agree that she had the idea that Jess would return the favor of helping Rory later in the series as early as the end of season 2

I think their entire arc was foreshadowed in Jess’s first episode. I mean we have that statement in their first scene, then in the last scene of that episode we have Rory say to Jess “nice disappearing act you pulled”….and we all know what happens there .
