Yea he looks so off in the black hat, but I love how it was used almost as a plot device because it’s so obvious that it means something to Lorelai when she sees him wearing it again. It’s like a sign to her

Well said! His speech was not only one of the best parts of the revival, but one of the best moments of the entire series imo. A brilliant performance from Scott too.
