I, too, admire her restraint there with Luke looking like that at the doorway.

I think it became a movie she associated with Luke as their first movie night together. In Season 7 she says to Chris she doesn't want to ever watch Casablanca with him, after they have a run of bad movie dates and she starts to think it's them making the movies bad. So Casablanca is her Luke movie and she doesn't want the image of that ruined. It's special to her.

I love that episode. It's one of only a few episodes from Season 7 I can say that about. It was so good to see Luke and Lorelai start to get back in to their groove again. She was so happy to have ranting Luke back.

Yes, they definitely stopped for those milkshakes. And Lorelai drank hers and finished off Luke's, that she managed to convince him to get.
