Okay, I just watched it again (first time in english) and I agree - it does get better. Maybe it is the language, maybe it is that the high expectations are gone.

The whole funeral/FND was great - especially knowing there's not a repeat of such a scene later. I still don't like that they go from not speaking to going to therapy, but that always bothered me in the series as well - we rarely got to see the real talks.

What still ruins this ep for me is Rory and especially Rory/Paul. I really don't see the fun in that. Still not too fond of the surrogate sl either.

I thought it was funny that Lorelai and Luke didn't remember anything about Paul but when I realized Rory didn't either I was like, "oh." Then it started to bother me.

I know that Lorelai can forget society people or SH moms but forgetting her daughter bf was a little to extreme and its not like Luke to tell a story about his Dad to a guy he'll forget

As Lauren said when she talks about it, it was just a quirky Gilmore Girls thing for them to do. She thought it was hilarious and just a way of expressing that he wasn't the right one for Rory but yes they could've shown that in other ways.

Oh I agree there were times when I laugh at if as well but looking closely I think that there could have been other ways to show he wasent the guy for rory

It is in character. She strung Dean when she liked jess. It's a consistent character flaw but her forgetting him constantly was OOc so we're Luke and lorelai

I used to write reviews for movies and man did I tear them apart

However, I don't think the revival deserves to be ripped to shreds if that helps.

Starting my rewatch now.

This first 15 minutes is really awkward and forced so far.

Rory tap dancing is hilarious.

This episode really comes into its own when Emily appears. Kelly Bishop has slotted straight back into her role more than the others so far.
The Lorelai/Emily relationship was like no time had passed and is still the one that fascinates me the most. Love all the funeral angst.

The surrogacy storyline was meh, not really feeling Luke/Lorelai this episode. Still terrible at communication, and they rarely show much affection. The banter was a bit forced, but I guess that's to be expected after such a long time away from these characters.

Paris was fantastic. She seems to get all the great one liners.

I liked Rory this episode. Alexis is just as gorgeous as ever, and even though she hasn't had much luck career wise she is still being positive and at least trying her best. The Paul joke is still funny at this point, but I will be over it by the end of Fall. I loved how caring she was being with Emily at the wake.

So after a stiff and clunky start I really enjoyed most of it.

I actually found the first scene with Rory and Lorelai to be less awkward watching it this time around (they were definitely trying to get back to that Gilmore pace)

yeah I can't believe they dragged out the Paul joke for 4 episodes

One of my favorite Luke and Lorelai moments is from this episode. It's when they are in their bedroom and Luke is going through all the movies Lorelai has recoded, while she gets ready for bed. I find it really cute.
