Bringing this original discussion from the previous thread back here because I agree entirely with it. :)

I think I am okay with what we got. It's a good open ending. I am imagine RL are together or at least good co parents. Jess found someone for him. A lit can flip this ending over lol. Emily is continuing to work on her self. I think she has a good mixture of her old life and new life in Nantucket. Luke and Lorelei are happy together.

Yeah. This way, both ships can imagine what happened and be happy. If it's canon, both or one could be screwed over. ;)

I'm also a fan of the revival ending (though I liked the original one too). In my head Logan is Rory's Christopher and Jess is Rory's Luke. There were a lot of parallels imo. With this ending everyone can make up their own ending, while it still provided some closure. I would love to see Rory as a mother though, but my gut feeling is telling me she'll raise her kid the same way Lorelai raised her. At the same time I don't think she'll have a different sort of relationship with her kid than she did with Lorelai. Rory/Lorelai were special imo. Mainly because of Lorelai's character and her age. There will be lots of love between Rory and her kid, but it'll be different. Maybe a bit more mother/daugther, instead of best friends, which was always the focus of Lorelai/Rory imo. Lorelai would make a great grandmother and Emily a great great grandmother :D

What Lorelai and Rory had was unique. I definitely feel Rory's relationship with her child will be more maternal and/or parental. But one thing is for certain, that child will be LOVED by so many people and that's a beautiful thing.

Yes, I agree. :)

Awesome article! Thanks for sharing it here. This first paragraph said it all and gave me such warm fuzzies.

Amy Sherman-Palladino has said she pitched “Gilmore Girls” as a half-baked idea for a TV show: “There’s this idea of a mother and daughter, but they’re more like friends than mother/daughter.” Two decades later, Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai Gilmore’s (Lauren Graham) dynamic has become one of the most iconic relationships in TV history.

Nice list.

Good list. Definitely agree with the number 1 spot. The season 3 finale has always been my favorite.

It definitely had great moments, especially that speech. :sigh:

I posted on the S1 thread by the way yesterday. Will be posting with my thoughts as I go through my re-watch. Some of these episodes I haven’t re-watched fully in 3 years.

I think I’m aiming for watching at least an episode a night rn with my mom

I’m really enjoying re-watching the show with her commentary though

^^ I know and I suppose, just like me you've realised just how good they actually are

I'm on S3 at the moment.

I loved getting my parent's perspectives on the show while we watched it together. It's been about the same amount of time since I've re-watched the series.

Yay for your GG re-watch! You sometimes forget how freakin good this show actually was and how much enjoyment you derive from revisiting the little town and its quirky inhabitants.

I love that you get to watch with your Mom who has fresh eyes, Allison. That's always fun. :)

Alwayshappy 10-08-2020 04:10 AM

That's a lovely way to rewatch Allison!

We're still rewatching ourselves, at episode 16 of S03 now. If I'm correct that's the ''Big One'' where Rory gets her Harvard/Yale/etc news.
