For those who have not read Patrick O'Brian's novels about Jack Aubrey - Master and Commander is the first. The squared-rigged ship that Aubrey is Master and Commander of is called Sophie. Those that crew in her refer to themselves as Sophies. It is the ship where Jack Aubrey first makes his name. So, it is in that spirit that those who ship the Master and Commander and His Lady be known as: Sophies. You Know You Are An Addicted Sophie when: 1) There is never enough R/L interaction. 2) Withdrawl can be lethal. 3) It causes dillusions, hysteria, visualization of pretty colors, extreme emotions, & other symptoms. 4) Once you start, you can't stop. 5) Prolonged Sophieness can cause one to feel alienated from loved ones and peers, thus causing them to spend large amounts of time on the boards just to feel part of a larger group. 6) Use of terms and overactive imagination/gushing can cause weird looks from Non-Sophies. 7) A selfhelp group might be necessary (eventually). 8) You've watched the R/L scenes so much, when you see a music video of them and theyre talking, you say their lines. 9)You can liken anything (pop culture, food, personal expirience, etc...) to R/L and actually have it make sense... to both oneself and others. 10) You have tendencies towards obsessiveness and/or dirtymindedness that are usually associated with Matt, Naked!Logan, etc. 11) You have a strange fascination with the  and  smilies and  on occasion, the smilie.Songs

We've got about 11 or 12 weeks to go until the season finale, so if we can go through 3 or 4 threads a week we can hit 100 threads by the SF.

Happy 60th. I'm so glad that I had such a large part to play in marking this historic day (I'm even more glad that I didn't screw it all up!). Anyways, welcome to the sixties... the decade of back aches, arthritis, brittle bones, and impotence! Remind me to pick up my orthopedic shoes tomorrow... I got the pretty beige ones with laces!__________________

We will soon have a new episode guys and it will be bittersweet because of the sucky hiatus.I didn't want to bring up that evil topic again, but what will I do with myself on Tuesday nights? Probably study for a change.

Tell me about it...this paper ought to have been finished this weekend...and here I am...punishing myself with this data anlysis....not even started on the actual essay yet, which will have to be 12 pages eventually....by next friday actually....and it needs to be one hell of an essay...gah!
Thing is, I know I can write well, I've gotten good marsk fro research pieces, so people tend to forget that it is a painful process for me to write too, because I'm such a damned perfectionist that once I get into it I wrack my brain for nights on end and beat myself up over stupid details. I think our fictional character logan may suffer from this too...knowing he can write well,but that it still is a painfully tiresome experience and just not wanting to go there... sigh.... __________________

New thread and we've hit 60! 
Hadn't heard about Leiden being the top school though! What I did hear was that it was at the end of the list as far as uni's in The Netherlands 
But the English department is great? Gotta look into that then
