Blame Booze and Melville

Rory is surprised by the performance review she receives from Logan's father, Mitchum Huntzberger, at the newspaper. Luke's plan to buy the Twickham house is threatened when Kirk makes a competing bid. Lorelai is thrilled when the travel magazine featuring The Dragonfly Inn hits the stands, but worries about Emily's reaction to the article. Meanwhile, Sookie goes into labor and Emily becomes a personal patron for a ballet dancer.

Sorry, double post

Finally, some L/L affection. And huh, that scene with Rory and Mitchum was really heartbreaking. Uhoh, commercials ending. OH GOD! COMMERCIAL ENDS! KIRK's CHEST, why does it look like THAT!

Just when you thought it couldn't get grosser....

snickelfritz 05-10-2005 06:12 PM

There must be something wrong with his (Kirk's) chest... like what IS that bump??

I liked this ep much more than the last few! Finally L & L actually show their affection again... and I'm surprised how easily Emily forgave Lorelai, I would expect her to make a MUCHHH bigger deal of the article..

Can't wait for the finale! Although it's sad, don't want the season to end.

I absolutely loved this episode. I can almost take back everything bad I have ever said about DP, almost.

Lorelai and Luke---- WOW!!! Finally we see some passion. Loved the Limo scene.

Rory---- Boo hoo so somebody does not think you are good enough so you go all unrory like. I am sorry but you have to take the good with the bad Rory.

Can not wait for next week.

hollowpoet 05-10-2005 06:56 PM

Wow, extremely well done episode!

A few things right off the bat:
I'm loving the Emily and Lorelai interactions, it was so nice to have FND back without the over dramatic ugliness of last week.

LL, scenes were amazing!!! :sigh: We may not get many of them guys but this was so worth some of the dud moments of the last few episodes! I kinda didn't like how Lorelai reacted to the pregnancy scare but at the same I understood. I think she's wrong though about how Luke would have reacted. Even though he's most of the time made it a point to say he didn't like kids, I think he'd be different with Lorelai.

Anyone else not like the scene where Sookie just orders Jackson to have the procedure? I mean I understand her point, I think two kids is enough, but that's the kind of thing you talk about first, as a couple. I just thought that was unrealistic.

And guys try not to be too rough on Kirk, there's obviously something wrong there, with his chest, but we don't know if that's just the way its always been or whether it is from a surgery or something. I'm sure he's had many people in his life point and laugh and that's not fun! Just my opinion. :look:

Some things are easier said than done. I'm surprised anyone would think that Rory would take it easily. I mean, this was Mitchum Huntzberger telling her he didn't think she could make it in the journalism field. That's what she's been working toward for so long. It's why she went to Chilton, applied to all those ivies, and has Christiane Amanpour. I don't know for sure, but I'm betting that being told by someone you resepect that everything you've worked for and everything you've dreamed about might not work out -- that you aren't cut out for it -- kind of sucks. I'm thinking that it might put you in a state of shock and depression, and acting uncharacteristically isn't entirely abnormal. And it probably really sucks because it might feel like you've wasted all your time on the dream and need to refigure out your life. And trying to figure things out after having such a clear path for yourself might be kind of difficult to deal with.

I don't think we can just write off what Rory was told as just a little criticism that she needs to deal with.

And if we want to go back in the show to see that this kind of thing happens, let's just remember Paris and her rejection from Harvard. Paris had worked for years to get into Harvard (not unlike Rory working for years to become an overseas correspondent). Being rejected from Harvard (similar to Rory being "rejected" by Mitchum) sent her into a downward spiral, causing her to do some uncharacteristic things like announcing to the country on CSPAN that she slept with Jamie but didn't get into Harvard, then skipping school for days (kind of like Rory's downward spiral that caused her to steal the boat and looks like it will cause her to have a breakdown and want to drop out).

I know it's easy to say that this wasn't a big deal really, but to Rory this is huge.

God, you must be an alien. Welcome to my planet, by the way.

I 100% agree with you but so many people on so many forums seem to just love this smack down that it makes me wonder what delight one gets from seeing a young person's dreams crushed. I don't know. Maybe it's something in the water.

This Episode was amazing omg. LL sceans incredibale. RL seens not as good. I felt so sorry for rory at the way michem said that to her. Lorelai was so pretty when she told Rory she was't pregnate I think her hair when she has it like that maked her look so beautiful. I was dissipointed that luke did not stip and get in the towel like the other mean I was looking for to seeing that. Kirks body looks wierd every time I see him shirless it remins me of et. Lorelai hideing in the den was cute. The Lorelai Emily stuff was refreshing after lastweek. YAY for Sookie having a girl. I laughed my butt off when she broke the news to jackson that he was going to get a visectemy. His reaction priceless. Kirk the Millionare is kinds neat. I am still in shock over Rory being the one with the idea to steel the boat Logan is a bad infulence on her and I am not likeing it one bit. I want my seaon 1 innocent rory back.
