7.08 - Introducing Lorelai Planetarium Discussion

Writer: Jennie Snyder
Director: Lee Shallet Chemel

TV Guide: Lorelai and Chris arrange a dinner so they can tell their big news to Rory, who puts on a happy face for her dad but tells her mom she's angry. Elsewhere, Logan surprises Rory with a visit and an announcement that he's relocating to New York to start an Internet company; and Luke calls Lorelai when April becomes sick.

Well, lets break it down:

Good:

- Daddy!Luke, i loved Luke (once again....) he and April were cute together, loved them 'gossiping'
- Logan/Rory, loved the fact that these two were able to work through their problems, these two are perfect
- LUKE CALLED LORELAI :woot: :yay: too bad their scene was kinda depressing
- Loved the fact that Luke was watching "Philadelphia Story" at the end of the episode, it's a sign
- Loved that Lorelai is keeping her last name, good, i would hate it if she was "Mrs. Hayden"

Bad:

- C/L; i truly think i feel asleep during the teaser, i don't think either one of them said anything of substance during that scene
- i hate the fact that this season is trying to erase the first six seasons of the show
- No Paris, Michel, Sookie, Kirk, Townies, etc.
- Rory all of a sudden saying she was ok and that C/L were great together and Lorelai saying that she was "sure" about this.
- hate the fact that i no longer recognize Lorelai whenever she has a scene with Chris, atleast with Luke and Rory she acts like herself
- hate the fact the Rory's room is becoming Gigi's and that Chris is moving in
- still don't like Rory's friends and the 'boyfriend' bit is really old now....
- April was annoying, hated that she told Luke he sucked as a dad...

- Aerie girls should still drop dead
- Promo: boring

overall, i'm still not impressed with this season, the only good parts are R/L and Luke.....

I completely agree, Zut.

all i can say is: Daddy Luke rules!!! :yay:
that was pretty much the good in today's episode..
no, i lie, i liked the whole Rory/Logan and Rory/Lorelai thing...

but the thing that's bugging me is the whole Luke/Lorelai interaction.. i don't know, on the hospital Luke look kinda hurt and all, but when he called her, they didn't show any emotion.. any surprise.. i think that scene could have been explored more! my opinion only.. feel free to disagree!

I wasn't really and LL shipper, but there is no doubt about how badly written this season is for LL. The writers built up LL for about six seasons and now are acting like Lorelai has always wanted to be with Chris. Lorelai didn't even mention how fast this was after she was all ready to marry Luke. There needs to be more angst or something

small disagree: it feels so normal for them that he called her and that's why there was no surprise. It seems that they've never been without each other and in their mind they never was.

Lolabelle26 11-21-2006 07:36 PM

I only caught the last 20 minutes, but those were pretty good despite what Zut said before about LL never exsisting in their minds. Pshaw.

It's true, the only thing that makes me tune in is Luke/April, and RL now. I think I've warmed up to Logan, he doesn't seem as bad as I thought he was in season 5-6. Hmmmm. Let's just say I tolerate him now.

I think it's raining anvils... :eyebrows:

little_earthquake 11-21-2006 07:46 PM

the LL interaction was written very lame.

they havent seen each other for 6 month and they talk like nothing happened between them. like they havent had a break up? hello? no I'm not buying it. in episode 5 she was desperate to avoid luke and then he just called and it was normal for her? hello?

_Jmarit_ 11-21-2006 08:20 PM

Lorelai looked so unhappy and unsure at the beginning and her total 180 at the end was stupid.

Rory needs to grow a backbone where Chris is involved. She should have confronted him also and not only Lorelai.

I loved the RL fight  And the 'make up'. I found the fact that Rory said 'screw you' hilarious. And Logan sure knows how to throw out insults that dig to the bone. That part was great.

Luke calling Lor without even thinking made me sigh. And then when he saw the ring :(. I think the fact that they didn't act any different just shows what they have. Yeah, they've been separated, but despite it all, they were there for each other, no questions asked.

Rorys friends are annoying. What happened to Paris? Or Lane? I'm so happy she didn't even entertain the thought of moving in with them. Ew.

And the reason Lor didn't change her name's cause she knows it should be Danes  :D

hshapir2 11-21-2006 08:22 PM

I think because of the circumstances, Luke was worried about April and even though him and Lorelai haven't been close in months, he knows she will help him if he needs it. That was very true to both their characters. Yes, it was pretty lame how nonchalant they were. It wasn't like Luke said he was happy for her getting married either. You could see she felt guilty and he was awkward about it

stephrox 11-21-2006 08:24 PM

Can beleive im saying this but i didnt like the LL interaction. No emotion was really their and itwas just way to short and just weird. I mean these 2 haven't spoken in soo long and then when he calls her it was like not even a shock to her she looked and acted so calm and not even ashamed or anything - has this girl really moved on??

LC is really started to get to me. I hate their scenes and i hate how we looose the real Lorelai when she's around him - she's all fake to me but when she's around Luke, Rory, and sooke the real Lorelai comes out. but with Chris its jsut like she's forgeting her past and everything that Chris has done to her and now she just soo in love with him and kisses the freakin guy every 2 seconds. Im sorry but didnt seeing Luke for the first time in months supose to have some sort of impact on her...

And wats with Rory being all mad and then at the end of the epi saying she was just mad because she wasn;t their.!?! I thought that maybe Rory would remind Lorelai about Luke and about how she was just engaged and jumping into a marriage liek this is rediculous. Instead she just kept sayign she was soo happy to have her parents together....and i really believed that she was happy when her mom was gonna marry Luke ?

Daddy Luke was cute but a little OOC. He said "Sweetie" like how many times?? But his concern for her was cute ;)

No townies, no diner scenes, no Dragonfy/sooke/kirk/michael.....

As a whole i ddint like this epi and this season is jsut getting hardeer and harder to watch let alone enjoy.

Logan had no right to throw the apartment arrangment in her face. They are in a relationship, if he was going to be like that, he shouldn't of ever let her move in. He will never change.

Argh! Lorelai is so fake, fake, fake! 100%

RoxyBlueGirl7 11-21-2006 08:42 PM

I loved this episode, but I have one request for the writers -- please never have Luke call anyone "sweetie" again. I know April's his daughter and he was concerned, but it sounded so weird to me. I never want to hear that again.

I don't know why Chris thought Rory would be thrilled about Lorelai and him getting married. Yeah, it might be the dream, and she might be happy if Lorelai's happy, but she and Lorelai are best friends. Of course she's going to be upset that she, their daughter, wasn't included in the wedding at all.

Lorelai was convincing herself that she was excited about being married this entire episode. I can understand her wanting to just get married and actually do, rather than continue to wait and plan a wedding and hope it actually happens. After waiting almost a year last year and planning the perfect wedding, only to have it not happen -- I can understand why she got married and is trying to be really happy about her decision.

It'll be interesting to see Lorelai have to adjust her life to live with Chris and Gigi, eventually. She didn't live with Luke really, and she's set in her ways. She also hasn't lived with a kid in years. I'm sure she didn't take all that into consideration (as evidenced by Rory's room) when she agreed to elope.

Loved Rory/Logan tonight. I'm so relieved that Logan will be back in the States soon. I didn't want to see them spend most of the year on the phone.

You're right. However, can you honestly say you've never said something out of line in the heat of the moment that you immediately regretted?

He will never change.
So... you don't agree that he's changed at all from S5? That he's gone from being a guy who dated several girls to a guy who committed to one girl, asked her to move in with him, and has stayed in a long distance relationship? Or a guy who now is taking responsibility for his future/his job and is actually taking it seriously?

I liked the episode, most of it anyway.

It was nice to see Lorelai really caring about Rory and going out of the limb to talk to her, I found that just so sweet. The billions of calls, the telagrams(sp?) and going to her apartment. Its good to see that that part of Lorelai is still there, I like that she still knows Rory and wouldn't be so nieve to think she would be happy about the whole thing, I also liked the story she told to Luke about Rorys hospital experience. Bet Chris didn't know that one :mischief:
Anyway ya it was good to see some Lorelai and Rorys interaction and honesty.

Luke being a responsible dad was just heart warming:blush: he is sooooo sweet. I wonder if Anna is going to flip though about the whole April being in a hospital bit. :( She better not, that was so sweet of Luke to take responibility and take care of April. He handled the situation so well. Oh and he better through it in her face that the person who she critisized and got Luke broken up with was the one that saved her kid that night:mad:
But ya the whole April and Luke thing was so cute, I'm really glad he is still taking care of her, they have the cutest bond and seeing Luke in daddy mode is awesome.

Most of the Rory and Logan scenes were good, he was a bit harsh about the paper though. He knew Rory was going through something and if he wanted to prove he liked those guys, he shouldn't have spread lies about them. He was really sweet through most of it though, Logan is a sweet guy, he's really changed alot. I loved his interaction with Lorelai:blush: He reached out and touched her arm, aww that was cute!

Ok so I was really happy about Rorys freak out but saying that the only reason she was mad was because she wasn't there? Come ON!!! We know that part of it is because of Luke, I understand that she is somewhat happy since she has dreamt about this since she was young but come on.:irked:

Luke calling Lorelai was so great, it was cute of her to go even though she didn't have to too. Goes to show just how much she cares about both Luke and April. His face when he saw the ring:( awww

Ok be prepared to see alot of exclimation marks and mad faces.:embarrassment:

I seriously felt like jumping through the screen just to kick Chris' butt:mad: Trying to completely change Lorelais house, kicking Rory out without consulting Lorelai or Rory about it, telling Lorelai Rory will be thrilled!!! God Luke kick his butt already pleeeeeease!!! I can't believe they are gonna mess up Rorys childhood room and move Gigi in! That just ticked me off!!! Rory being ok with it?!?!!!! Gigi will ruin that room, Rory needs her privacey when she goes home and now she has to share it with that little brat?!?!! Old Lorelai would never let Chris do that even if Rory gave her permission. Thats her room, her stuff. They cant get the feel of the room back after a 2 year old has been in there:mad:

The thing that ticks me off the most is the fact that Luke renovated that house, he paid with his own money to renovate that house and he didn't get to enjoy it and now Chris is going to move in? GRR
