Jews and Chinese Food Discussion
When Lorelai discovers that Luke's boat is no longer in her garage, the void she feels without Luke seems even more painful. Luke agrees to build sets for the elementary school's production of "Fiddler on the Roof," knowing that Lorelai is the costume designer and hoping that their paths will cross. Meanwhile, Rory and Marty makes plans to spend a day together, but Logan drops by Rory's dorm room and convinces them to come out to dinner. After a terrible evening with Logan's clique, Marty tells Rory how much he likes her, but she admits she has a crush on Logan.

This episode is awesome so far. I love the Doyle/Paris stuff. I feel really bad for Lorelei. Everyone's treating her like she's fragile and I'm sure that's not making things better. Go Rory for kicking Doyle out! *lol*

May I just say how adorable Luke is with the kids?

I thought the constant lesbian references were a little over the top/tasteless. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I felt like they were making too light of it.
I was really annoyed at Logan's friend during the dinner scene, from the condescending manner in which they treated Marty to their light-hearted banter concering Juliet's eating disorder. Rory seemed to be thoroughly enjoying herself, which surprised me. Not sure if she sincerely enjoyed the company (because in my opinion, these are not the kind of people Rory typically would admire/enjoy), or if it was merely because she was with Logan and these were his friends. On the other hand, I think Rory was a much better friend to Marty than spoilers and episode descriptions would have had us think. It was clear she wanted to go to dinner with Logan but I do think she would have stayed with Marty had he wanted to. I loved how Rory had her legs draped over Marty when they were watching Duck soup - a very nice little touch illustrating their comfort level. The Luke and Lorelai scense left something to be desired in my opinion. Luke was out of line, in my opinion. Loved Michel wanting to be included and then sulking about it when he finally got his way - "these are antique stencils!" Loved that Rory and Marty were watching Duck Soup, and that Rory dressed up as Harpo although IMO she would have looked better as Chico. __________________

Why I love this show: last week, I'm choking back the tears, this week I'm falling off my couch laughing. Michel and Kirk - my all time favorite townies. One was better than the other in this epi.

Yeah they looked comfortable, but that's about it for me. No chemistry or spark there. Colin was an arse again. Logan was nice though. He even gave Colin a look after his comment. I didn't like how Marty snapped at him because Logan said he would cover his part of the bill.
LL need to just get back together already. That's all I have to say on that. They both want to. Quote:

But I don't think it's right to call her names. She may be smitten with Logan and therefore a little hasty in her actions, but she doesn't deserve the labeling. Did anyone notice they cut out the China Palace hair-twirling scene that was in the promo? Or did I just miss it? __________________

I don't know how twirly it was but Logan did play a bit with Rory's hair. I think Luke being out of line in the garage was supposed to be that way. He's hitting a major frustration level, thinking he was going to see her at the school. He's as upset as Lorelai but it's not going to come out the same way. I loved this episode so much. It had me teary at the DYLM song but rolling at a lot of parts. When Kirk started singing to the little girl, it struck me as hilarious. But boy that girl was a belter, wasn't she? Luke kicking Kirk's cart....LOL Michel and his stencils. Very good episode. |

I personally think Marty is there to show you how difficult it is to have any sort of relationship with a GG if you are not of their class or higher. Marty and Luke's frustrations are sort of linked; which is good. They are sort of in the same "boat" (sorry).
I don't think Marty and Rory are going anywhere, and will probably illustrate (IMHO) the danger that L/L very well could completely fall apart; if both sides don't work very hard at it. I don't think you're supposed to like Rory much, mostly for being insensitive and just plain dumb. Spending $75 for Chinese Food (which is supposed to be CHEAP) is there to show you that Logan is a whole nother universe. More like a Murdoch heir than anything else. Rory is just WAAAAAY out of her league/depth. |

Luke with the kids was adorable. I like the little hint that Lorelai thought they would be together for awhile if she signed him up to make the sets.
I like that he got frustrated waiting on Lorelai to show up. and the fight! woo! I really liked it, it was very reminiscent of past seasons and fighting to cover up their feelings. I also loved the DYLM scene, it was also a great callback to the beginning of their relationship....a lot of missed opportunities. I didn't think Rory was a skank in this episode. She's just a girl in college, who likes a boy. I was a little disappointed in the Rory/Marty exchange about him liking her. __________________

I haven't see the episode yet but I read the recap so I can comment. I'm still upset that Luke and Lorelai can't work thongs out in this episode. I hope they'll stop being stubborn and that they gonna be abble to talk about their feelings. It's obvious that they're in love with each other and I think that they just need to say it. I disagree about what many of you said about Rory. I think she's a typical, 20years old woman, she's not totally sure about her feelings and I don't think she realises she hurts Marty. I like Marty and Logan so I can't judge her.
I can't wait for next week's episode!! __________________

Hi,
Here is my episode opinions. I did love Paris in the episode, i missed her some what insinsitive ways I started craking up when she was ranting about having to stay at Dyoles ( sorry if i spelled his name wrong or anyone else's. My day consisted of eng lit with the most monotoned teacher i've ever met, but some how manges to make cracks about himself to The Flash of taking in History of Western Civilzation teacher) Kirk was a bit stupid but funny all the same in this episode. He did do a great job of playing the old guy ( sorry long day) LuLu is defently perfect for him. Luke earns the trophy for Best Character on the show today. He was soo cute when he was helping out with the kids. I think he discovered that he liked working with children more then he ever thought he would. I was thinking about him like i do with some of the male characters in the books i've read and just pluck him out and make him all mind I loved that he kept wanting Lorelai to be at the play so he could see her and then went to her house. Lorelai you're soo missing Luke. I did love how she managed to get Michelle to do the stenciling and also the Mulan Rouge reference with Ewan McGregor. I can't wait to see her in action in the next episode. Rory i will give you 2nd character of the week. Your prize is a reminder to close the blinds when your getting it on with Logan. I like how their making Rory more like able again. Although when my mom saw the end of the episode she made her usuall comment of Rory is turning into a ****, which i completly disagree. If Logan came to my window, i would let him in, no questions asked. Marty, poor sweet Marty. I felt soo bad for him in the episode. He liked Rory and told her but then after a series of bad events, he was told she liked Logan. But i will amit, when that scean happened, i thought " what about the food he brought, is he taking it with him?" I do feel bad about him having to borrow money from Rory since he didn't want to get it from Logan. I have to amit, where in the world did they go to eat that it cost $75 a person for chinese food. For that price i want a show and a nice take home box that'll last me a week I thought tonights episode was an good filler episode. I think that the two episode before were better and next weeks is going to be awsome! I would give the episode a A- Melis __________________

I really don't think there is a very strong parallel between Luke and Marty and their respective Gilmore girls. And it's not too much of a stretch that the restaurant where they ate was $75 a person. It didn't exactly look like your average Chinese take-out restaurant. Ever hear of PF Chang's? You can ring up a sizeable bill at a place like that. __________________
