Unfortunately he had to do that to get money at the moment though. I felt really bad when he and Zuko had to basically live on the streets.

Yeah I think that was the moment when things really started to shift for Zuko and he started to think a bit differently. Iroh seemed to take it a bit better (or at least had a better attitude) but it's very different for him too.

Iroh definitely seemed more open and accepting of the change

I think being deeply involved in the war, and what happened with his son, humbled him and made this transition easier for him

Yeah that's true. Iroh had been through a lot of change already. I think it's definitely easier to deal with when you're older (probably because you've already been through some stuff at that point)
