Novels (the source material) by MXTX: available in several languages uncensored containing some explicit scenes and fall under the danmei genre (chinese equivalent of boys love genre)
Manhua (chinese comics): available in several languages
Donghua (chinese animation): known as The Founder of Diabolism available on Viki Rakuten or Tencent Video on youtube
Audio drama: censored chinese version, uncensored japanese version
Live-action tv show: known as the Untamed available on Netflix or Tencent Video on youtube

But all above forms of adaptations suffered from Chinese censorship to some degree as they can't portray the 2 male characters as a couple and/or the explicit scenes as it is in the novels.

i became too obsessed by it since i finished the live-action show.

i finished volume 1 of the comics and borrowed volume 2. sadly they only have 2 volumes at the library. beautiful comics. i'm looking into buying the novels.

You might need to travel a bit to other libraries to find volumes of it. My county library system does have each volume I understand, but not many copies of them. Only 1 copy each of the 5 volume. A county next to mine has more copies of it though.

my city library card needs to be redone. i don't know where mine is anymore. also i was living in the suburbs for years and couldn't use the city library.

these days i only go to the national library

i also don't know where my physical card is but i scanned it on my phone long ago.

Some library systems have keycards that can be put on keychains to make it easier to keep track of. "Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation" began in 2016. I had no idea of it then.

i'm also late to the wagon.

i mean the books do fall under the danmei genre (chinese equivalent of boys love genre). i still know so little about the genre. but i have to admit that i like the characters so much.

i admire the storytelling. i like stories with human connections.

i've seen countless chinese period dramas but never with gay relationships. i was surprised the genre exists in china. they sure portrayed the characters on tv well considering the limits they have with censorship. we could sense that beyond friendship, definitely not bromance (even if that's what they say they were filming...).

there are some very explicit scenes in the books, just a little heads up, in case u want to check it out and it isn't ur cup of tea.

the comics, the tv show and the animated series don't contain the explicit scenes though as they were censored.

after watching the live-action series twice, i started volume 1 of the books

i'm not much of a book reader so it might take some time to finish all 5 books.

I hear you. I used to read quite a bit, but have not as much for a while. I do have Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation checked out from a library, so I might as well read it. Looks intriguing.

i hope u'll enjoy it.

the story starts with the resurrection and could be a bit confusing with the monsters and clan stuff. the story will afterwards go back to when our heros first met in school. and then progress to catch up to the post-resurrection events.

it was a choice made by the author. the story would have been a bit slow pace to be able to capture a reader's attention if the story was to be presented chronologically.

what did u check out from the library? the novel? the manhua?

but i do like the printed manhua, the quality is so much better.
