All Things One Piece #1: It's 1 of the best selling Manga in history!

Welcome to the thread everyone to discuss One Piece. For those unsure what One Piece is about, here is a summary from Wikipedia: The series focuses on Monkey D. Luffy, a young man made of rubber whom, inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate "Red Haired" Shanks sets off on a journey from the East Blue Sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece and proclaim himself as the King of the Pirates.''

I have read many One Piece volumes, but not for a while. I have not finished reading all of them I believe. There's quite a lot of them. I am also not familiar with the One Piece Anime at this time. I do remember characters though & Robin is my favourite of them. I'll get some more images put in here soon I hope. Thanks for visiting this thread.

Let's get this thread going.

One Piece Proves DC's Most Dangerous Hero Isn't Who Fans Think

While the elasticity of heroes like Plastic Man is often regarded as one of the lesser superpowers in DC Comics' universe, One Piece proves that being stretchy is a superpower that can overcome almost any other, including more classic superpowers like strength, speed, flight, and durability.

The manga poster-boy for elasticity prowess is One Piece’s Monkey D. Luffy or just Luffy. To be sure, the stretch-gifted pirate out to conquer the world is also one of the most successful fighters on the Seven Seas. Luffy’s outstanding abilities are the result of his dedication to the integration of his normal skills with his elastic abilities. Indeed, Luffy's power is the hallmark of strong heroes who do not necessarily have a God-level superpower. Case in point, Batman makes up for his lack of other-worldly abilities by constantly training in a manner that suits his attributes. As such, the synergy of his inherent, abilities with those developed as a result of the “Bat Tech” has developed one of the most successful heroes in all comic universes.

Luffy’s power development occurred in a similar fashion. Before acquiring his stretching abilities, Luffy had always wished to become a pirate. This wish led him to develop some basic skills fighting and defense skills that he believed would be necessary to this profession. In other words, even without his stretching powers, Luffy could perform basic pirate skills. Accordingly, when he developed the ability to stretch, it was only natural that he incorporates his elasticity with his inherent abilities.

The combination of these abilities did not happen overnight. That is, it took Luffy a while to figure what worked best but ultimately, he was able to combine his skills with his elasticity to form an effective fighting style that allowed him to attack from a distance at almost impossible to predict angles, while simultaneously defending himself from likely counterattacks. Additionally, Luffy also learned to use the inherent ability of elasticity to generate energy when stretched that can be used when contracted.

What Luffy’s experience reveals is that the poor treatment of elastic-powered heroes like Plastic Man in the DC comics universe is misguided. Indeed, rather than treat them as support, they should be hailed as some of the most powerful and effective heroes around. A Plastic Man punch unleashed after his arm has been stretched 100 yards holds the same level of kinetic energy as a punch from Superman. Moreover, a punch the comes at an impossible angle is going to be almost impossible to dodge.

The key to any positive development in the status of its elastic heroes is the recognition that stretchiness should not be confused with weakness. While a stretchy hero may not have the muscle-bound body of more traditional heroes, this does not mean that they can inflict as brutal a beating as those inflicted by Wonder Woman or Batman. While the stretchiest superheroes using the same style as a traditional DC Comics hero may not be able to produce the same effect, One Piece's Luffy has illustrated that if heroes like Plastic Man combines their inherent skills with their elasticity, they can be just as effective, if not more, than anyone else.

Are you serious? Hehehe, i never get tired of my nakamas, i wish we had 3000 eps instead of a thousand honestly! But the greatness of the show comes with the rewatches, so i don't worry about it because i just go back & look for hints that Oda left previously and i pick on new things; Everytime i do that it helps make the beauty of the story & worldbuilding MUCH greater.

For people that haven't watched One Piece much or at all having so many episodes could put them off if starting from the beginning. For others the more the merrier I suppose.
