for me its something that his real life/past hasn't tainted me cause don't really pay attention and never have minus the random things have heard

i recently watched it for the first time. i've seen most of the franchise but...i don't remember much. they weren't my fav movies. it's still enjoyable as a stand-alone movie.

i think Henry did well in his role. it wasn't an

evil laughing, bad to the bone kind of villain. more like a good guy went rogue.

I think as a whole the franchise is standalone movies

you’ve sometimes got recurring characters like Luther or Simon Peggs character

but as a whole the movies are standalones

i just don't remember Ethan Hunt's character's development over the years. like the whole thing with his wife...i don't remember any of it

Yea there isn't really much character growth

its just continued missions

He let his wife go both to keep her safe AND he needed a cover to investigate what the 4th movie was about

he needed a reason to be in a Russian prison "undercover", so his wife was "faked dead" and he was disvowed for going after some men
