At the end of the episode when he's talking to Nate on the phone. When Nate tells him Raina's not coming for family/cake time. He looks down and is sad. Then Rufus asks him that if Raina's not joining them and he says not tonight.

It's Elle and Eva all over again... whenever Blair is not an option instead of having him pining/waiting for Blair. They bring in a new chick for him who he develops feelings for right away, which that alone makes me not buy the storyline at all. A couple episodes later they take the girl away and have him go back to Blair, it's the same old crap only this time Raina isn't a prostitute.

ETA: I'll have to rewatch one day... I don't remember his devastation but I believe you Karen.

Well last episode they didn't share any scenes, so I could watch but the notion of CR is just ugh and I can't wait til it's over.

I don't think he's devastated,. But you could tell he was disappointed. Had it not been for that scene I would have thought the Nate distraction were just for business reasons. Then they threw in Rufus/Blair to voice it too.

I think they have Raina different for some reason more than Chuck because they show her as a powerful woman that's able to dump Chuck and still achieve goals like the Poet wants to meet her and she got Anne's foundation. But Blair fails in everything.

Then with the terms they ended on. Blair told him she loved him, he said he loved her, and she's still waiting for him, yet they have Chuck go and do all this while he told her that they should be working on themselves. I don't know what creating sacred rooms and feeling so deep for Raina works on Chuck bettering himself. Not caring about Blair at all while she still shows so much love for him.

But Blair failed in the bettering herself department too because she lost 'W' and turned it into a way just to run back to Chuck faster so he wasn't moving forward with Raina.

So who knows, just slap her back together with him. That seems to be the plan, she's not going to get anything else anyways.

It's happened three times though now. It is pretty in character for Chuck.

P&B4ever, I am so angry about the end of that storyline. That's now how it started (well, actually how it started was that they could sweep the IP and all the stuff Chuck's done to Blair under the rug, which makes it all the more insulting). But at the beginning, and throughout the season, Blair has wanted things for HERSELF...the class, the internship, etc. It wasn't just about Chuck. That it now is, is insulting and weird.

If they slap her back together with him, Karen, that is disgusting. I know what you're saying, they might as well, but that is the worst thing I can think of.

I agree it's awful, but it's what I expect anyways. And they've proven through this season that the theories of Blair never getting a real chance to move on and she must always carry CB on her true.

I guess if it's slapped back together I won't have to watch her pine over him and hurt all the time over him. I probably won't be watching anyways.

The large majority of CBers, can't speak for all don't want them to be just slapped back together... we want some progress and redemption for Chuck.

Oh, Gloria. I know you don't want that. I don't think most Chair shippers want that either. However, I think Karen is probably right and that might be where they're going.

And Karen, word. I hear you. I keep saying 'no more' but I jones for Leighton and want to see her (and have enjoyed some of the stuff this season). However, that would be...no more.

I guess it depends on what peoples definitions of redemption is. Mine it would be at least a year of growth for him to show him worthy.

But I'm sure Chuck will do some grand gesture of something to make him free passable again and this week he'll go back to deciding he loves Blair. Some pining in a corner and moping over how he lost her to Louis and it'll be poor Chuck.

So I think it depends on what people want. Any form of redemption would be enough for some are CB shippers first. There's a lot that just want them together no matter what. Blair's the bad one for hanging with Dan and getting engaged with the prop despite them showing her still all about Chuck at the expense of herself.

S2 was slapped together and once he does the pretty speech and words, the rest won't matter. Chuck's always free passed. If he gets down on one knee and proposes. I doubt CB'ers would be hating on it. As a stand alone scene, I'd probably even think it's sweet.

Of course, you are right. Although, if any of those things--grand gestures, proposals, etc--are supposed to be enough, then the whole season and a half makes no sense. Of course, the answer is that it doesn't make sense.

I should have specified what I meant by redemption. If any of those things are enough for people, and the onus is put back on Blair...well, there will be a lot more discussions in the future, certainly.

It's not just that we/I want redemption..

I want Blair to SUCCEED on her own. I want Chuck to APOLOGIZE for IP. I want him to TRY to get her back.

It's not even about Chuck for me. It's about BLAIR.

Redemption for me would be actual growth for Chuck... him putting Blair before business, waiting for her and not jumping to another girl when she's not around.... selfless acts would be a start. I don't care how long it takes as long as there is some progress and shifting of dynamics, then we'll see.
