Thanks for that. :)
How great was it to see Alicia back in the courtroom in this week's episode? She was totally in her element. Favourite bit of the episode: Quote:

Julianna Margulies: The Good Wife Fans Won't Be Disappointed With Kalinda and Alicia Resolution | E! Online
The only way I won't be disappointed is if they KISS, hug, say ILY, or at least cry for being so stupid all this time as they say goodbye. I'm not expecting any of those to happen, though :pout: |
I'm betting on a hug. PLEASE.
|
It was a bar scene. Now that I think about it, they didn't have any physical contact even when they WERE friends, how would that happen now. Still the scene felt...empty, after so long without any interaction. Plus there were moments where it seemed pretty clear that they were filming with doubles, not with each other. I really wish none of this (whatever it is) happened, cause it really ruined half of the show for me, and made me love Julianna less in the process :(
|
I always knew I would be dissatisfied by whatever final scene we got, and after seeing it, I almost would have preferred they had that conversation over the phone. The split-screen (which there obviously was) was the last straw for me. I knew there would be doubles because Archie and Julianna's stand-in tweeted each other the day they shot it, but physically CGI-ing them in to the main shot?! I give up.

It was ridiculous, and both of them were so meh in the scene. "That's too bad". THAT'S TOO BAD, seriously, that was the BEST line they could come up with??
|
It felt too meta, like the writers talking to the fans rather than these characters to each other - characters who SUPPOSEDLY were still friendly given all of their amiable phone conversations. That was the insurmountable obstacle for the scene: the show has tried to sell that A/K have been a part of each other's lives for the past few years when we all know otherwise.
A podcaster made a good suggestion - if Season 4 had involved a massive falling out from when they never recovered, and this had truly been their first interaction in two years, then the tone of A/K's final scene might have made a bit more sense. But none of it did. |
Hah, now that you mentioned it, I remembered the friendly phone calls. See, their relationship was so important the past few seasons that I didn't even remember this anymore. Now the whole thing makes even less sense.
I think I've never seen something handled SO wrong :( |
Archie was very active replying to people on Twitter last night, but she didn't touch on any comments about the A/K scene. Still, I'm sure she is now WELL aware of people's thoughts if she wasn't already.
|
They were all very unprofessional, seriously, both actresses, one of them beign a producer ffs, plus the writers, everyone handled the whole situation the wrong way
|
Archie has struck me as very professional, as she has been the one to say she misses A/K and their scenes. Plus in her exit interviews, she deferred to the Kings when asked about being kept out of scenes with Julianna.
|
I meant unprofessional as in, whatever as going on between them, they should've just been grown ups about it and done their job working together. I mean, there are actors who date and then break up then keep playing love interests, so why would it be impossible for non friends to play friends on screen?
|
Yeah but I mean it looks like Archie was perfectly willing and eager to do to scenes together again. The decision to have it otherwise seems to have been completely out of her hands.
