After FOTD I watched all of Alex's DW Confidential clips. It's fun to see the change from her Season 4 interviews to her Season 6 interviews, by which point she is clued in to River's secrets.

How many more times do you think we will see River? We know the Doctor still has to tell her his name and that he'll give her his new screwdriver. She also said the last time she saw him he had a new haircut and a new suit. All of this makes me think that River will have to be around until there is a new Doctor, but now (in Angels of Manhattan) that she's a professor, we're closer than ever to Silence in the Library. Hmm...

I've been wondering that and I don't ever want her to go, even though I know at some point she has too. There were little mini-episodes (I guess that's what you would call them?) last year kind of like the Pond Life ones they had before this season where River said the Doctor was about to take her to see the towers sing, so since then I've wondered if we are actually going to see the Doctor's farewell with her or not since they already had that....

Oh yes, I remember that. And that was their last night together, so that would suggest she has to leave before Matt does. But since that wasn't a proper episode, I don't know if we're supposed to take it as 'canon'. I can't imagine they WON'T show their goodbye, as heartbreaking as it would be, but I doubt it'll be this season after we already lost the Ponds.

Maybe it'll be a part of the 50th celebrations. Moffat loves Alex, so he no doubt wants her to be there for the anniversary.

I'm guessing that by the time Alex leaves, it's either a little before Matt leaves, or a little after a new Doctor is introduced. Mainly because yeah, River is Moffat's little pet.

I agree. She's recurred for 3 seasons already, and now with Amy & Rory gone, the Doctor is her only link to the show.

My gut says Matt will leave after Season 8, or he might do what David did and finish his last season then do a few specials before the new Doctor is introduced.

I really wish the book was in actual book form to buy, but since that's not an option I'll buy the ebook Thankfully on amazon there's something you can install to read it because I don't have any kind of e-reader. I've been hearing good things on tumblr
