Perhaps Yen sees a bit of herself in Ciri, learning about her powers.

I think she does.

Glad she got her powers back. And I'm glad she did but I really wish she hadn't went through with it at all. I'm still disappointed in how that storyline played out.

Yennefer actually didn't go through with it, Yennefer already changed her mind and even warned Ciri before they were attacked by the Nilfgaard soldiers at Cintra. It was actually Francesca who let the demon Volath Meir out of her cage and that's what caused her to possess Ciri. So it was actually Francesca's fault that Ciri got possessed, not Yen.

She took Ciri and was still taking her to where she was told to take her. That's what I mean by going through with it. She didn't finish it but she did go ahead with her plan. And I wish she hadn't. I wish when she found out who Ciri was she would have stopped. But drama. Yeah I know it wasn't Yen's fault.

true if you think of it that way Yen did start her betrayal but she didn't finish it, Francesca finished it. I wish Yen had changed her mind sooner the moment she met Ciri and reunited with Geralt, but they wanted to create more drama. Honestly I don't like a lot of the writing in S2, most notably what they did with Yen's character and killing Eskel so soon, even though I do think it was still better than S1 was.

I hope S3 will be more faithful to the books and Geralt and Yen work out their problems, because it really makes me sad seeing them at odds with each other and Geralt not being able to forgive her yet. As the audience it's easier for me to forgive Yen especially after she proved herself and sacrificed herself to save Ciri. But if I were Geralt I wouldn't be able to forgive Yen so soon and easily either, it's going to take more time for him to forgive and rebuild that bond they have. I think S3 will probably be mostly focused on the family dynamic between them and Ciri, and trying to protect her from the world, so hopefully we will get a lot more scenes with Geralt & Yen in S3.

yeah killing Eskel too soon

mixed feelings about how the betrayal went down. i too wish Yen could've come clean about her deal with the demon and sort it out with Geralt's help. but of course they had to add some drama .
