I do remember the show was renewed in January 2020. The CW pretty much renewed everything though because they were worried about a possible writers strike.

Yeah I watched it since it was free on the CW website and I watched during lockdown when I didn't have anything else to do. I think that helped build interest too.

Well, the show actually had decent ratings in S1. It retained all of RD's ratings (which were also decent at the time).

But yeah if it was any other network...although I think The CW was the only place we would have gotten any kind of ND show anyway. Other networks tried plenty of times to no avail.


I had originally watched the Pilot because back then I used to pretty much check out all CW shows...and I ended up tabling it. I did keep DVRing it though. I only got to it during lockdown because it was the last show on the list.

This, this, this. It's so frustrating to see the writers sitting on a goldmine with Nace and not doing a thing about it. In a way, it's similar to RD now with Bughead, they had a strong fandom that kept that show going, but once they got rid of BH and the other OG ships, ratings plummeted and now during their last season premiere, my Twitter timeline is bone dry, literally everyone bolted after the mess of the last two years. If this wasn't ND's last season, something like that would happen here too because there's only so many times people can hang on to the promise of Nace while the show does everything in their power to keep them apart. They got S4 by the skin of their teeth, I wish they'd realize that and give Nace the time and attention they deserve.

The problem with this show is that they just don’t want to write for Nace. Maybe at the last second…but IDK. They want Nancy to hook up with every guest star because then it’s easier to work the plot/appease their fantasies at the same time. They can also dupe the fandom into thinking they give one iota about Nace when that’s simply not true.

I hate what they did to Bughead…but Bughead were together for years. Nace never was (and it would have stayed like that regardless of how many seasons).. They’re just a poorly written fake slowburn way too dependent on fanon, “subtext”, and the actors’ amazing chemistry.

We could have had it all, but ego is a powerful obstacle.

I think that is why I've checked out emotionally. I can't hang on when its apparent that the writers don't care about your pairing. Even DS weren't treated this badly (despite the fandoms delusions). I've just never encountered this level of disrespect. Maybe I"ve had it easy over the years and this is some sort of karmic payback. But, it is what it is.

I'm usually always in sync with the writers. Since I'm not in the writer's room with them, I don't know when they see what I see, but I can see things in the pilot without the two characters sharing a single scene. The only time it didn't work out was the first season of AOS. I saw the chemistry between Sky/Daisy and Ward in the very first episode. They kissed at the end of the season, but of course, I did not see that big plot twist coming. I don't think anyone watching did. My parents didn't.

Oh the Ward plot? Yeah I was pretty annoyed about that...but it was a fantastic twist.

Although I remember that episode was accidentally spoiled by an Itunes leak.

Looking back...a majority of my ships aren't endgame...and the ones that were...many of them I wasn't even still watching because of the BS crap the writers pulled. I'm just so sick of garbage writing and sycophantic fanbases.

It's just so sad because I just want to watch stuff I love and enjoy. I'm just tired of having my intelligence insulted.


We should try to finish this thread and clear the bad juju. A quick round of ABCs perhaps?

I've been finding comfort in Todd and Susan on SHMT. Even though she's still engaged to another man and the series is playing the old "Will They, Won't They" game. But it's still S1. And we still need more character development for Susan outside of Todd.
