I really hope it doesn't take like 65 episodes for Nancy and Ace to kiss.

TPTB better not announce a new temporary love interest for S3! We don't have the patience! I hope they read this board sometimes. We need a time jump going into S3.

Nancy needs another LI like she needs a hole in the head! Same for Ace. If that's the case, then what was the point of the Bobbseys? :look:

I might want to stab myself in the eyes if we have to deal with yet another love interest.

Yes, that's just pure soap opera territory right there. I would wish for the series downfall, even though it's on the CW, which means the chances of a cancellation are slim.

One of the very few things I actually don't like about this show is the fact the writers feel the need to have every single guy fall in love with Nancy. So far, I think Grant is literally the only younger male character who has been introduced that hasn't had a thing for her (I know Ace hasn't been confirmed yet, but of course he's in love with her), but that's probably because he was only in one episode. :P I mean, don't get me wrong, Nancy is wonderful, but why did they have to make even Tamura be into her? That's just ick.

I swear to God, if they make Nancy get with every other guy on this show before finally pairing her up with Ace, I'm going to lose it. I just want them both to be single while they slowly find their way to each other. Is that too much to ask for?

I wouldn't care if they forget the Tamura thing ever happened. It wasn't brought up at all in the racial profiling episode. It should be forgotten and never heard from again. That's another terrible trope. All the boys or girls love the female or male lead of a show.

Yeah, I'm really hoping they forget it. I wish they'd never gone there to begin with, but I suppose we can just chalk it up to Nancy being under the lust spell and nothing more.

And it's fine if they want to make every male character fall in love with her, just as long as they don't make her fall back every time. Especially if they are planning on having her be endgame with Ace. I don't think that will sit well with most people.

I hate that trope. One of the worst examples was Lana Lang on "Smallville." Yeah, she was pretty, but that character was the definition of a Mary Sue in the worst ways. Late seasons, Joey Potter couldn't even compete. Yes, just check it under "lust spell" and never mention it again. This is one of those forgotten show details I can live with.

ds44 05-19-2021 01:16 PM

I already did.

Well, there's nothing much to say about the episode other than I pretty much hated it. It was boring and underwhelming. The only thing that was interesting was the Celia twist. Other than that...

Also, this is the first episode since 1x12 that Nancy and Ace were not on-screen together in even a group scene. In fact, Ace was BARELY in the episode and when he was...Amanda was in those scenes. NOPE.

I'm honestly worried that these last two episodes are going to suck so hard, I'll want to stop watching the show.

gold-steps 05-19-2021 08:14 PM

I thought it was a little underwhelming too (which is why I went to do homework first as opposed to coming straight here to yell about it ). I'll go write up more in the episode discussion thread but yeah I was expecting something a little....bigger....idk.

Was also a little disappointed by the lack of Ace and Nancy.

I'm also reading through the discussion earlier and agreed about all of the guys having a romance with Nancy being too trope-y. I don't really like it.

 I wish I would have just kept watching the Cubs game even though they lost.

I was very disappointed. Why bother making Ace the reason this whole chain of events happened if there's no pay-off to do it? I mean he wasn't even involved???? Like okay. It just felt very plot-driven.

Also, it was super weird that Amanda took a bribe from Ryan?! LIKE OKAY??!

It's annoying 100%.

Is it just me or does it seem like Nace went from a slow-burn to a no-burn after 2x13? Like...I'm starting to wonder if they decided to go in a different direction or something once they sat down to write 2x14. I think it's safe to assume at this point that there won't be any big moment between Nancy and Ace in the finale—if we even get any scenes with them together in the next 2 episodes at all. The next episode looks like it will have Nancy interacting heavily with Gil and Tamura, and not really at all with Ace. Which is so dumb, considering Ace is the reason she's in this mess to begin with, and also because they've had him appear so concerned for her the last few episodes. I guess that was all for nothing?

It also seems like the Bobbseys aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Unless they turn out to be the Big Bads of the season (which I highly doubt). So, I guess...they're just going to be sticking around for the foreseeable future just to be in boring, chemistry-lacking relationships with Nancy and Ace?

Also, I'll be really glad when the whole Hudson drama is over. Not really digging it a whole lot...

Sorry. Feeling a bit salty tonight. :D

All I know is that all scripts were done by Thanksgiving 2020. When Kennedy and the showrunners gave those interviews in January, they already knew how the season was going to end. I can't answer the rest because I honestly don't know.

I personally think they bit off more they could chew with all of these random storylines and they really only had 13 episodes to do it in. They wasted so much time on random stand-alones and now they're rushing to finish this Everett plot.

Spoiler:

I don't know about Tamura. I didn't even know he was in the episode. He's probably investigating Everett Hudson's disappearance.

Also, I 100% believe Gil is going to do something shady in the next episode. Maybe he'll make a deal to get his father out of prison? Overall, I'm not sure what their plans for the Bobbseys are, but I'd be shocked if Nancy stayed with Gil after this season. The guy is untrustworthy and controlling. This whole Nancy gone bad thing will probably last one episode and then in the finale, she'll probably be in real danger. But if Gil does something to put Nancy's life in danger, it WILL have a ripple effect on everyone.

I can think of multiple ways to get rid of the Bobbseys in the finale...not sure what's going to happen...but they seem very heavily tied to the Everett plot. Once that's over (I mean the guy has to die now), what would be their purpose? But again who knows?

ds44 05-19-2021 09:15 PM

I really can't see the bobbseys dragging into s3. But, I am beyond ready to see them GTFO
