I do think its interesting that she's willing to talk about it. It definitely sounds like they were planning for a season 2 if she's doing that. Which also should be pretty obvious from the fact that they ended with revealing time travel (which I am still not over)

Okay I took one for the team and listened. It looks like this interview and the one Muffy posted about in the news thread are the same so this is killing 2 birds with one stone.

She gives 0 spoilers so I'm not going to hide it.

Her background
-She's originally from Bangor Maine, which is interesting! She was one of the few non-white people in the town. She got into reading and writing fantasy then, since it showed her that being different was cool.
-She used to write Star Trek fanfiction lmao
-She optioned a lot of scripts while working odd day jobs until she applied for the Warner Brothers Writers Workshop that was kind of how she got her "big break". That was what made her want to be a TV writers vs another type of writer.
-George Lucas, The X Men, and DC were big influences on her. She got to work for Clone Wars and was super excited.
-She talks about how she's really passionate about set safety and giving back. On the first day of Nancy Drew the writers did outreach with a local group for young writers.
-She loved the Hardy Boys as a kid. Nancy in the books was too proper for her, the boys had more adventures.
-She didn't know that ND had been approved for a pilot until her agent told her. She loved the pilot from the first scene.
-This year Noga is the show runner and Melinda's the executive producer because she was working on TS
Tom Swift
-She talks about the process of making the spin off. The network came to them about making the spin off. Making Tom a gay, black, billionarie was Noga's idea. She feels like she learned a lot about fashion working on Tom Swift lol
-Right now there are no talks about expanding the Drewniverse any further especially with the CW in a "transition period". The Hardy Boys rights are tied up elsewhere so they can't do that.
-Waiting for Tom Swift to get greenlit was a long process. She had always wanted Ashleigh for the role of Zenzi. She'd seen her in a panel and thought she was funny, it wasn't because of her role on Riverdale.
-As a Star Trek fan she was excited to have Lavar Burton (voice of Barclay) on the show. He was great to work with and helped Tian a lot.
-She had written episode 2 of season 2 just before TS got cancelled. It was going to be a flashback (kind of) to Rowan in the future meeting Barton Swift. The first thing he did was punch Barton in the face lol. He finds Barclay there, but Barclay can't remember anything clearly. He does remember Tom's mysterious death at a young age while he was working a time travel device. Barton programs Barclay to have a happier memory sequence, including when Tom activated him. Barclay was going to be reading Tom a bedtime story. She told Levar this and he loved it.
-She says she hasn't totally given up hope on TS finding a new home but tbh her tone doesn't sound like super hopeful.
-She loves 1x05 and 1x06 of Tom Swift.
-There were going to be a lot of reveals about Lino's biological dad in season 2. He was going to show up (or well someone claiming to be his dad was going to show up) and they were going to get into if there was any kind of experiment.
-Isaac was her favorite character. Her older son is trans, so having a trans character on the show was really important. They had trans writers to make the story authentic. The scene where Lorraine tells Isaac that people who use religion as an excuse to be transphobic aren't really following Jesus is one of her favorites.
-She's proud of the TS writers room. Lots of the writers it was their first TV show.
-She says Nancy Drew and TS have some of the same DNA
They start talking about Nancy Drew
-Melinda is going to direct 4x11. Lots of crew members who haven't directed before will be directing. Scott will be directing again. Noga makes a lot of the decisions now, Melinda is acting as the executive producer.
-They haven't figured out the last few episodes of the show yet.
-The initial writing of Ace was very different from how Alex played him (which we all knew already). When Alex auditioned she thought right away that he could be a love interest for Nancy. He auditioned in Birkenstocks and no socks and it was raining out. She commented on it and he was like "if you're not wearing socks they can't get wet" which she thinks is so something Ace would say
-Nace and Fanson evolved pretty naturally within the show
-They do notice fan reaction to the show but different writers ship different pairings.
-The hosts are both big Park fans and they keep bringing it up *gags*
-They use names from the canon a lot
-The writers are aware of the theory that Ace is a Hardy boy, but she says again that they don't have the rights.
-They liked Grant. She's not sure how they could bring him back.
-The host asks if we'll ever see the road back on Nancy Drew and she flat out says no. She says they wrote it in just for TS.
