I still never watched that episode of SYTYCD but I'll take your word for it Kimberly :)

You know come to think of it I have never seen that show at all except for when Katie danced and sang. “Get Happy” :)

The new thread is just in time cuz I was gonna post another Katie magazine cover. :)

Eeew yeah, Wayyy too much airbrushing of her face. That's not necessary.

She's really getting all the international covers lately hasn't she?! :)

Lucas William 08-18-2011 05:19 AM

Yeah she has :) I wonder how popular Katie is in other parts of the world?

speaking of parts of the world we haven't heard from Dora in a while and I wonder how Jen is doing?

cute_kitten 08-18-2011 06:44 AM

Hey guys

Sorry for not posting, was mostly :lurk: these days as I've been really busy - as usual.

And here's some eye candy for us girls - my favourite German actor of the moment (hope that's okay, Luke):

Yeah, she's still away.

He's a cutie Dora! I like the last picture the best!! What's the movie industries in other parts of the world like? Do people mostly only watch movies from their country or the US? *clueless*

cute_kitten 08-18-2011 01:33 PM

Well, in my country it's usually movies from other countries, as there's very little money for the movie industry unless you manage to get finances from abroad. There have been some big hits in the theatres though in the last few years (neither of them that I would like) although personally I prefer older movies, from the 60s and 70s.

But usually people watch Hollywood movies, as most cinemas are extremely oriented towards that, mostly towards blockbusters. There are also some specialised movie theatres for European movies, but unfortunately only in the capital. Luckily that means I can go there. And then there's the movie festival once a year, which is extremely popular and which shows movies from all over the world that otherwise wouldn't be getting into our theatres.

It is very hard to see any German movies though, apart from maybe on the telly. I found this actor through a German TV show that's been shown on our national TV and then I bought the DVDs while in Germany to be able to watch all the seasons so far. There's this love story of a girl who's been in love with this guy since childhood even though he played the macho type all through high school. And then they went separate ways, but she never forgot about him. And now they both end up working at the same hospital. And well, she falls in love with him again and he is fighting feelings at first, but they got their Happy End at the end of Season 3, which is the last season so far. But a 4th one is apparently due to start filming at the beginning of next year, which makes me really excited as it'll be shown on the national Austrian TV, which we are able to watch via cable :D

me like!

dcluv 08-18-2011 09:46 PM

Thanks for the info Dora! I love finding out about these little things all over the world. Questions like mine don't get answered in world cultures or language classes...at least not in the ones I've taken.

Aww, Dora, that is my kinda show! I'd love that storyline!

Is tv/film in good quality with good acting in other countries? Or is like Hollywood the best? I've seen one German movie and it wasn't too bad but it wasn't like something that would make it to theaters in the us I feel like. It would be considered to be like made for tv. The only diversity on tv I get is one Spanish channel that has lots of game shows and soap operas and even tho I can't understand a word, it still seems kinda crappy :look: it might be like Mexican Spanish, not Spain Spanish. :embarrassment:

cute_kitten 08-19-2011 12:05 AM

Personally, I don't like Slovenian TV shows/series too much, but I prefer the theatre much more. I feel that the acting in the theatre is much better compared to movies. I don't know really why because many actors that act in movies/TV shows are usually the same ones that appear in the theatre. Perhaps it has to do with the scripts and directors, dunno. I've had a subscription at our national theatre for 4 years in a row and I always feel how underpaid these actors are for what they deliver. And then I watch them in a Slovenian movie and go: eh?

I haven't really watched any German show apart from this one in years as I also didn't feel that they delivered. They've got some good movies each year that are usually shown at the movie festival, which I gladly watch if I have the time. I think the director of the movie festival has a good 'touch' so to speak to find really good ones. But mostly I don't find them that good.

This show is therefore really an exception, it's really well written, with funny dialogues but combined with a good share of drama. And I feel that the acting is also superb. It's a shame though that the DVDs do not have even German subtitles available so that people abroad can't buy them if they don't understand the language. I've heard it's been sold to some other countries apart from ours as well, so hopefully it makes it big there as well. In Germany, as far as I know, it's a huge hit, exactly because people are not used to a good TV show on that particular channel.

And this actor has also done some other great movies as well, haven't seen them all yet but from what I've seen so far I feel he's got a bright future ahead of him :) Although I still hope he'll continue playing in Doctor's Diary (that's the name of the show) so that we can see what happens now that his character is finally together with the main female character :D

I can post some pix if you'd like girls?

I'd love to see some pics! :)

Anyone else on this board super excited for Sarah Michelle Gellar's new show Ringer??! Or Hart of Dixie with Rachel Bilson?! (pretty sure at least the pilot for that one was filmed in Wilmy! idk if the whole series is or not) The CW is lookin pretty good to me this fall! I just need to find the time to watch all these shows...

Lucas William 08-21-2011 05:47 AM

I seen the Previews too both of them shows on the internet when they came out they look like they could be good. :) I should try and watch the pilots when they come out.

Kimberly did you see Kevin Williamson has some new show coming out too called "The Secret Circle"

Hey Dora  post all the pic's you want it's cool you found a new actor you like cuz then I'm not the only one drooling over celebrity pictures.

Speaking of did anyone see this candid picture of Katie from the other day?

http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/9...atieholmes.jpg

God Katie :thud:

dcluv 08-21-2011 09:24 AM

I like her hair! But I guess you're looking elsewhere Luke  ;) aww and I guess that's Suri's American Girl doll she's holding! They're making the hair long on those dolls now! Wow!

Luke, I did see that Kevin has "The Secret Circle". I'm not gonna watch it..too many shows. But I'm really afraid. How is he going to have time for both TVD and TSC? One show is demanding enough I'm sure. TVD better not go down hill like DC did because of this. I'll be so mad at him. It's S3 of TVD...guess that's his time to bail. Fingers crossed he doesn't compromise TVD but I don't trust him after what he did to us by leaving DC. *disappointed*

cute_kitten 08-21-2011 11:18 AM

I've also heard of The Ringer, I'll be tuning in because of Kris Polaha, I think he's gorgeous and I really liked him in LUX :sigh: The Secret Circle is that new show with Britt Robertson, isn't it?

And here you go with more pix, I certainly won't mind :D I bought a DVD of a movie that he plays in as the sequel is opening in Austria next month (I am obviously going ;)) so I need to catch up on the story. Really excited :P
