I think part of the reason for that was because it was a tv show that was idealistic. Case in point: Joey's dorm room....no dorm room looks like that. A lot of it is for show and to catch the attention of the audience. They didn't go too overboard though - DC was one show that wasn't known for it's fashion.

 I think they'd have been crucified by the critics if they went TOO overboard, because the show was kind of marketed as NOT BH90210 ;)

^^True. And it was supposed to be a real coming of age story in small coastal town in Massachusetts. Not the wealthiest town in America. I think that makes DC more relatable. Most of America wears the kind of clothes on DC (even if some of it couldn't have been afforded by some of the characters). America isn't wearing the designer brands of The OC or even One Tree Hill. The Vampire Diaries is like DC in this way. The clothes aren't over the top. They look cool, but not outrageous for middle class America to be wearing on a daily basis. For me, this makes the shows more relatable.

I haven't seen it either.

It was good...James and Michelle were the best. Some of the characters drove us nuts (recall Veronica and what's his face, Luke and Dora? ) Definitely worth watching. James added a much needed element. I feel like the lead character wasn't strong enough. Her love interest wasn't desirable enough. It lacked in those areas. But the concept of the show - doctors who are back working in hospitals after being off in Iraq and now suffering from post traumatic stress disorder - was really really good. The show had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it got really good too late. :( I really want to rewatch the episodes. That what also stinks about shows being cancelled...you don't get to watch the episodes again when they repeat over the summer :( I def would have watched them again.
