Yeah, I feel like Star Wars is a perfect film. It would work by itself even if the sequels were never made.

Agreed it did work as a stand-alone if it didn’t turn into this huge franchise

Yep. The only unresolved element would be Vader escaping at the end. I remember when I was a kid seeing that and just knowing that this story wasn't over. Damn, that brings back memories. I remember that brief period of time when we had no idea that Darth Vader was Luke's father.

Well, I do know that his original script was, "The Star Wars and the Adventures of Luke Starkiller," so I'm certain a lot of changes were made over time.
