See I don't see how he needs to or can here. Unpopular opinion, I know. He needed to discover himself & who he is/wants to be. He needed to move away from the magic world if I remember correctly. Then he also saw how much he hurt Maggie so knows to leave her alone. He's human & doesn't have anything to offer them or the show at this point
