So when it comes to making icons out of gifs I think I have the first two steps down.
1. Find a gif.
2. Open photoshop :lol:

Then you want to Crop - (100 px by 100 px) and Save (Ctrl, Shift, Alt + S).

But you'll probably need to delete frames, reduce the number of colours/lossless (when saving) to get it under 100K.

Then you could get into the realms of deleting alternate frames and changing the time delay to reduce the file size. :goof:

If the icon is zoomed too far away, I usually reduced the gif to 200px or 300px etc depending on how close I want it. I copy all the frames and put it onto a new image that is 100px x 100px so just moved it all around.

Won't a 100x100 crop achieve the same thing though? You don't have to select the whole thing.

Not always. I guess it depends on the gif and I like playing around with the whole thing to see what works :lol:

I have some issues with gifs actually opening in the program. I think some are just too big that everything freezes so there's that :lol:

:lol: it's not the lightest of programs to run. Plus Tumblr doesn't necessarily save them as a straight .gif either.
