My thoughts so far

I’m enjoying the show

For me the tone of the show definitely feels like a mix of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the most along with some Veronica Mars and Riverdale

My favorite part so far is Jenna’s performance/portrayal as Wednesday

I also really like the character played by Christina Ricci, the original Wednesday in the 90s movies

Definitely my 2 favorite characters so far

The Thing is a fun character again on this show

Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia is decent to me but her performance doesn’t hold up a candle to Anjelica Huston as Morticia in the 90s movies

Gomez in this series doesn’t do anything for me and I feel zero chemistry with the actor who plays him and Catherine

That would be nice

I never realized how tall Gwendoline Cristie was till watching this show. she is 6'3 and is towering over everyone in the cast. makes her extra intimidating

She would make a great Lady Dimitrescu if they made a Resident Evil Village adaptation.

Watched the first episode and overall really enjoyed it. Love Jenna's Wednesday, and Enid.

Though I agree that Catherine and Luis aren't really doing it for me as Morticia and Gomez. Also not keen on the budding love triangle with Wednesday.

liked this callback to the movies

The way I loved this friendship development

Can't wait to see their relationship grow. :sigh:

 Liked the nod to the classic theme song too.

Tyler: "You're not scary. You're just kinda... kooky."
Wednesday: "I prefer spooky."

Watched the second episode. Love Enid befriending Thing, and the scene of her telling Wednesday to apologize to him for her mistreatment. And Enid's passion about the Poe Cup was endearing, Emma's facial expressions are great.

Liking Eugene too. Hope there's more scenes of the Wednesday/Enid/Eugene trio, they have a fun dynamic. :D

Weems is intruiging, especially as we learn more of her history and powers.

The scenes between Jenna and Christina are great. It's almost like '90s Wednesday mentoring '20s Wednesday.

One issue I am having with the show is that sometimes I find it hard to tell when bad things are being played straight or in a fun way. Like when Wednesday says hurtful things to her family, I'm not always sure if it's just the dark Addams humour, or if she's genuinely being an angry teenager. Or how monstrous "outcast" society is meant to be, because while grievous bodily injury is allowed in the school boat race, they otherwise don't seem all that different from the "normies" and Gomez being a suspected murderer is treated as a serious accusation.

Yeah I brought this up too in an earlier post on this thread

I like Eugene too

He’s a nice guy

Kind of reminds me of the guy that had a crush on Wednesday in the movie at the camp

Mori 11-29-2022 09:15 PM

 Though Eugene's a little more cheery and outgoing than Joel Glicker. The Pilgrim World stuff also seems to be inspired by the movie.

Watched two more episodes, and the fourth one is my least favourite so far, very much the CW teen romance episode. Ugh, who looked at the character of Wednesday Addams and decided that she of all people needed to be in a cliche YA love triangle?

The actors, especially Jenna, are carrying the show. The writing needs work. I'm on board with the outcast themes but the execution is clumsy, and the worldbuilding isn't very thought out.

The song at the end of episode three was great, Apocalyptica's cover of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. This show has an awesome cello-heavy soundtrack. :D

Liked meeting the Mayor and seeing what his relationship with Nevermore is like.

Hope to see more of Yoko and Divina together.

Thanks for those! :) Love seeing behind-the-scenes/making-of stuff.

I'd love to see more of Weems. There's still so much to her to be explored IMO, like her relationships with Morticia and Gomez. Or her partnership with Mayor Walker. Or how she became Principal.

Overall I had fun with this season :D I just think the writing could be better. Mainly, more thought put into fleshing out the world and characters. Because a lot felt superficial or didn't make sense, and I have so many questions that I basically have to headcanon my own answers for.

Love these parallels between Enid and Gomez from Addams Family '91.

Cheered seeing Enid kick ass. :yay:
