Awesome news :D

fly me to the moon 11-10-2021 07:54 PM

It really was..

TBH the ending would be lame if it was a one season show, too much unexplained. Even when watching the last episode I said to my boyfriend it's clear they are looking to have a second season.

I hope it's as fun as the first! There needs to be games and contestants imo and not just Gi-Hun trying to infiltrate, even if the games are in flashback to the time the Front Man was in them and won.

I also wouldn't mind seeing some of the S1 character's backstories explored a bit more but I am not counting on it, as I am not sure how it would fit narratively.

BlondieLeigh 11-12-2021 06:50 PM

Yeah, with how it ended, another season was needed.

There does have to be more contestants and games, if not, what is there to infiltrate?

fly me to the moon 11-13-2021 10:53 AM

Yeah since I felt like second season can be last one..

Kinky-Cousin 11-15-2021 05:59 AM

I agree it's not a show that can have 7 seasons without them overly milking it. and I would rather 2 good seasons than more where the quality goes down.

While the character development is very important, the games are the most iconic parts of the show, so I hope they are given the same prominence as in the first season. The horror the characters go through when they realise the challenge is always good. I don't want them to only be shown partially while the focus is behind the scenes.

I think now we know all the games, it has the risk of being repetitive and it won't have the shock value now. However the finale left me with many questions - like what about his daughter? He didn't go see her first when he won! Backstories of the other characters is also good. I wonder if they do it like Lost and show the backstories of different smaller characters too.

Kinky-Cousin 11-16-2021 05:50 AM

I thought the games might change each year though, the VIP's seemed surprised by the bridge and one of them talks about how South Korea has the best games each year.

Gi-Hun's actions after winning were a bit confusing. I get he is severely traumatised, but with the money he could have paid someone else to help Sae-Byeok's brother and it is still a very long time to not contact his daughter.

BlondieLeigh 11-16-2021 03:24 PM

Yeah, kinda does seem like the games change each year, unless the VIPs do.

Kinky-Cousin 11-17-2021 06:28 AM

I could be wrong but the VIP's seemed kind of familiar with eachother and the host Il Nam, at least their masked identities. There are probably other VIPs since they imply other countries have games too but I'd still expect the games to change each year. I think the VIP's mentioned having seen Korea's games last year.

I found this from VIP 2 pretty funny :D imagine finding out your character in the script is actually dumb enough to surprised the real bridge is much bigger than the model version.

They were definitely familiar with each other, but they may just run in the same circles. The games have to change though, imo, but with the VIPs seemingly not knowing what Squid Game was previously, I wonder how they'll keep it in next time when it's unlikely it was in any those VIPs have been to before.

I always wonder if it would be different games? I mean??

Kinky-Cousin 11-18-2021 05:39 AM

I don't think there will be a literal squid game in the second season, the title and the game appearing in S1 is enough to explain the title's relevancy. You use whatever means possible to win, can cause violence to win, and risk being harmed by other players who are trying to win.

I can't be 100% sure but I really think the games change each year. Also it would make sense to prevent "cheating", if all the survivers vote to leave after game 3 or 4 they can go and tell other people what the games are and how to have the best shot of beating them, like lick the dalgona in game 2 to make it easier. If the games keep changing that can't happen.

I'd guess the games orient themselves at children's games respective to the country where it takes place. Like korean games have korean kids games and american or european games have likely western type of kids games like Hopscotch.

fly me to the moon 11-18-2021 06:45 PM

Yeah since I doubt that next one that they would focus on the game, but history on how it develop and all that.. Blah blah blah..
