Episode Discussion - 1x04: Identity Crisis

After a mix-up in the ER causes Conrad to deliver a death notification to the wrong family, he sets out to fix it. Meanwhile, Nic struggles to find a patient's records who has been under Lane's care, Devon forms a bond with an elderly patient and Mina is benched after overreaching in the surgical unit.

Episode was okay, but again, it didnt really grab me the way the first two did. Hmpf. I wonder why. I think part of it for me is the lack of nic/conrad moments which I just love. Emily in general doesnt seem to have too much to do just yet. idk. I wish the storylines were more riveting because right now they just feel like basic medical cases. The first two episodes stood out to me, 3 and 4 didnt really.

Actually, I think the exact opposite. For me the last 2 episodes were better than the first two. IMO the pilot was a bit of mess, like almost every pilot. And I think it's clear that Nic has a big storyline going on with the Lily's case so imo Emly is already having a lot to do besides being Conrad's love interest. I didn't miss Nic and Conrad scenes, because there was plenty of other interactions between other characters I enjoyed. I love the Mina and Conrad banter, for istance. And Devon finally started to be more fleshed out. That scene with him trying to talk with Medcare was so funny. And I think the show is more focused on showing how healthcare system and its issues can harm or affect patients more than just showing resounding medical cases every episode but without a real long story arc. I'm truly enjoying that different way to approach the medical dram genre, more like ER than like GA.

Although I was curious about the Nic/Jude stuff. It wasn't even mentioned and then in the promos for when it comes back we see a Nic/Conrad kiss. Did they drop that Nic/Jude stuff?

I liked the episode overall. Obviously there is a lot going on with the Lily stuff, and I am curious how it all plays out. The DR obviously didn't want Nic to have everything so I am curious what is going on there.

I agree about the Devon stuff, it was so funny.

All the promo FOX is airing show clips from future episodes not just from the episode they're supposed to promote. I think we'll see the Nic/Jude stuff in future episodes.
