Robert Downey Jr's Relationship With Every Avengers Co-Star Explained

Quote:

Tom Holland

However, Robert Downey Jr’s most famous MCU friendship is with Tom Holland; with Downey Jr helping Holland get his career-defining role as the MCU’s Spider-Man while working on Captain America: Civil War. Just as Tony Stark helped found The Avengers and later took the role of mentor to Peter Parker, Robert Downey Jr similarly mentored Tom Holland. Holland has spoken of his positive experience working with Downey Jr during his audition and first scene as Peter Parker, noting that some of the dialogue was improvised, leading to the scene’s natural, jovial feel. Even after Robert Downey Jr’s MCU tenure ended in Endgame, he and Holland continue to show their friendship on social media and even co-starred in the non-MCU film Dolittle. As with the original members of The Avengers, Robert Downey Jr naturally falls into the role of both mentor and friend to his co-stars.
During a fight scene with Willem Dafoe in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ Tom Holland ‘Became a 5-Year-Old’.

Kirsten Dunst claimed that her Spider-Man films were the best, and Tom Holland responded.

Quote:

“You know, she’s entitled to her own opinion, аnd I’m not one to pаss judgment,” Hollаnd sаid in аn interview with Movie ‘n’ Co UK. “I’m definitely not doing this film for the money.” I meаn, I think аnyone would do it regаrdless of the pаy, right?”

Hollаnd went on to sаy thаt her criticism hаd no beаring on his enjoyment of working on Spider-Mаn: Homecoming.

“All I know is thаt I hаd а greаt time working on this film аnd thаt I аbsolutely loved it, аnd I don’t reаlly mind if she doesn’t wаnt to see it.” I hаve no аnimosity towаrd her becаuse of whаt she sаid, аnd she is entitled to her own opinion, so it’s аll good,” he аdded.

Oh wow :thud: that is a very adult way to handle Kristen :thud:

So Uncharted releases today? :wiggle: it'll mean when I find it should also grab the newest Spidey cause I do want to see the new Dr Strange probably couple weeks after its been in cinema -- have to be careful due to my cancer  now Thor is an opening weekend though

Found an HD version :yay: so grabbing both Spidey 3 and Uncharted :bubble: before Spider-Man need to see if I need any of the ones after BW

Saving both onto the computer might watch Uncharted later today but need to save Spidey 3 until am up to it in the timeline

Sounds like you still have to watch Shang Chi and The Eternals, those came out before Spiderman NWH lol.

crash landing 04-26-2022 05:34 PM

Just finished The Eternals and be clueless  is the way to be -- I actually really enjoyed it  -- basically I tend to ignore reviews etc even ignored the guys over X-Men cause I like to judge for myself as a non-comic reader  for the movie but that's just IMO - Tia  check out their comic/cartoon thread where left them a little comment  thought you would appreciate it where flat out said fandom wise "our views conflict" sorta of thing  They are great friends outside of fandom like both have been supportive of my cancer fight -- so its a really hard balance with the two of them :thud: trust me

literally just ended and its 8:33pm -- so saving Shang Chi until tomorrow

SwordX13 04-26-2022 05:52 PM

Good luck on your viewing, :) i'm going to watch them all from the start soon cause some i haven't watched since their inception and i need a refresher; I was watching most of the Marvel films back in the day, but there are some that were accidentally skipped and i'm the kind of guy that hates that, i must watch them all in order and not skip Incredible Hulk, IM3 and Dr Strange this time! What happened was that back in 08 i wasn't aware that Hulk was being tied with Ironman in the same cinematic universe, ended up deliberately skipping IM3 thinking the trailers were not appealing and Dr Strange was an accident you see, i remember seeing Civil War in theaters but a year after realizing Dr S was a thing the hurricanes Irma & Maria devastated my puertorican homeland................................ No water for 45 days and no power for 120+ days, after things got back to ''normalcy'' somewhat i eventually watched Homecoming and Ragnarok but that was the last i saw during the 1st quarter of 2018, bet it'll be fun to go back and watch them all over again as if it was the first time!

crash landing 04-26-2022 05:54 PM

I do plan to do that soon-ish  start with Civil War etc

Both understandable reasons  I just did a movie "catch up" cause think at the time had 3 or 4 had to see leading up too where at the moment my mind is blank cause pretty sure did one recently after the shows already were around -- either way had some hadn't seen yet where basically am catching up from BW to present :look: so for me I'll stick to just TH's version before watching No Way Home where trying to debate on f I should rewatch Andrew's mainly cause not sure why but dismissed his version  I always liked at least Tobey's first 2  so thats tbd before the latest

Yeah, I saw on the MCU board you did watch The Eternals so thankfully your almost done. I usually will listen to a few reviews, but if I want to see it I just go and see it for myself. There have been films others hated that I liked (With Spiderman 3 being one of those examples, that movie gets too much damn hate IMO) I'm glad they helped you outside the board, but my only experience has been with them posting and they are just ridiculously negative 24/7. I hate how they have taken over and corrupted the X Men board (Which is why I wish we could get some X Men threads on the MCU board) I still remember Phoenixrising coming on the MCU board and calling us all idiots for liking these movies and don't get how someone can stay a mod after saying some stupid bs like that. So clearly there are no consequences for crap like that, which is insane to me. After that I was like, well damn I guess I can say whatever I want then if they can call everyone on the MCU board idiots as they tried to spread their negativity all over it at the time. Thankfully they were stopped, but if you hate the MCU so much why the hell are you here? RME.

I personally think people should watch the past Spiderman films cause it makes their appearance in NWH even sweeter, especially when Andrew's Spiderman got his own personal closure saving MJ, plus all the villains history with the other Spidey's. I also get if you just want to knock out the MCU, then watch the other Spiderman films though lol. Even though I think The Amazing Spiderman 2 is the worst Spiderman movie, I still think they are all worth watching. This isn't related to the MCU, but if you haven't you should definitely watch Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse. OMG, that movie is so freaking amazing! Spiderman: No Way Home is my favorite Spiderman movie but Spiderverse is a very close second (Even though it's most people's favorite Spiderman movie) then SR's Spiderman 2. I need to rewatch the past Spiderman films myself, even though it's all still fresh in my brain. I do think the Homecoming trilogy is better overall than the SR trilogy.

I also did a MCU rewatch before Avengers: Endgame came out, it was cool to do that. The only thing I remember from the rewatch is I liked Iron Man 2 more than 3 (Which wasn't the case before, but IM3 gets too much hate as well) I also remembered liking The Incredible Hulk more than I used to and hate how they stopped giving Hulk his own films. Age of Ultron is overly hated as well, even though I like the other Avengers films more AOU is still a great movie. I'm just glad the MCU is still going as strong as ever, and I'm looking forward to the films we get this year.

Dang, that was longer than I thought it would be. Also happy to see my babies Tom and Zendaya again. Been missing them lol.
