I love how much she's been doing feminist op-eds for magazines like Rookie.

I firmly believe that Disney is purposely not promoting her anymore as the lead of GMW because she's too socially outspoken.

Whoa what?! They aren't promoting her as the lead anymore? I mean I haven't watched beyond S1 yet and I have heard that the show is very.. well it might as well be the Maya show now. But they aren't even promoting her as the lead either? Wow.

Though that would make sense. Her being too outspoken and trying to bring all these great ideas to the show might have Disney moving back a little. Which sucks.

Yep. They are alwaysss promoting SC because she fits the Disney package much more because she sings and falls into line a bit more.

They BARELY promoted Rowan's movie, and I'm sure they aren't happy with how outspoken she is on Twitter about race and sexuality.

Tammi - I guess I should have saw that coming because yeah she does fit the package more. And once I started hearing so many calling it the Maya show I should have guessed not only would they do that but they would start promoting her more too.

Which is sad. I think it's incredible how outspoken Rowan is and how much she educates herself on the things going on around her. Disney is lucky to have such a role model on their network.

she really does deserve better. It just kills me because Disney should really promote her more - she's a good role model for their demographic

It really makes me not want to keep watching. This plus the love triangle crap. Ugh.

They really should and she is such a good role model for them. I wish the show wasn't on Disney.
