After the tragic moment of Avengers: Endgame when Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) sacrificed herself for the Soul Stone on Vormir, Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton/Hawkeye returned to the MCU in his self-titled series set in New York City at Christmas time.

Renner was joined by Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo, and eventually Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova/Black Widow) and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. The latter first appeared in Netflix’s Daredevil television series, and Hawkeye marks his MCU debut. Jeremy Renner’s time as Hawkeye wasn’t over after Avengers: Endgame and the actor’s next appearance was once again to play the character, this time as the leading protagonist. Interestingly, Renner also headlined another TV simultaneously as Disney+’s Hawkeye, with Mayor of Kingstown available for viewing on Paramount+.

Hawkeye saw the titular character spending time with his family after the events of the Battle of Earth until he comes across Kate Bishop. It’s a series that sets up Kate as Hawkeye’s successor, although Renner isn’t done with the role yet. Mayor of Kingstown has him play the main character Mike McLusky, who owns the Kingstown prison where a number of activities take place - Renner is confirmed to be reprising his role in a second season.
