I have to respectfully disagree, AMC has the finale say because it is their network, Gimple and all the others work for AMC and if this petition continues to get heat as it has been getting I can see S6 (Because S5 is all written and filmed) I can see Emily being asked back, Emily already said in her interview that if she was asked back she would accept it and go back. I do agree Gimple nor Kirkman or anyone else is going to admit they messed up big time but amc would have no problem bringing Beth back as it has been done before in series. and that's where Gimple's hand would be forced. He has say over creative storylines and such but he has no say on amc bringing back characters.

I think the aguement is that Beth is 18/19 while Rosita is mid to late 20's. And another thing that ruins it and to no fault of her own is that Emily looks soo young, She is 29, She is almost 30 years old and yet tomorrow she could be on the disney channel playing a 16 year old again. She was 25 when she first played Beth who was 16 so I mean it isn't like she looks the part of older (Rosita does) I'm just guessing at what others are comparing it too. I, myself had no problem with it. 16 years of age is the actual consent in Georgia and I knew Beth was 19 and it wasn't like Bethyl was sexual. Beth and Daryl hadn't even thought about kissing and yet people are already to complain about an 19 year old being sexual with an 40 year old (And I'm going towards 40 because we have no idea Daryl's actual age. Beth and Daryl were becoming friends in still/alone and it went further but they had no idea of that so I think calling them out as "Gross" was just stupid.

AMC first put out in Alone that Bethyl had feelings for each other and they deleted it and then they came out again and put the same thing and kept it. I don't know why it was deleted and I don't know why it was brought back if Bethyl were going to go nowhere. IDK

I just don't see AMC caring unless the ratings drop super badly. And all the bad reviews they might just chalk to a one episode deal and hey we will show them how awesome 5b is. But also could be me being pessimistic about everything dealing with this after the **** fest that was Coda. But hey I could be wrong and I would be happy to be wrong. I hope the petition, spoons and all the damn bad reviews makes them start thinking of the crap they pulled. If they ask Emily to come back (because it wasn't planned all along) and Emily wants to do it then I'm definitely in.

I still don't understand they can pull off so much other crap with this show but dealing with two adults who are moving in a romantic direction is what has everyone clutching their pearls? It's so weird? Even with Beth being a younger adult at the age of 19 how is this the thing that has everyone crying out when it comes to all the other things that happen on this show?

Ashley - After reading your PM about with what happened to the first show runner and the Andrea thing then AMC might care more than I'm thinking they will. But again I also just think I'm going in these directions because it's hard to have any sort of positivity and faith (about this show and the writers) after that crap.

I truly still believe that this is all a part of a bigger plan. I highly doubt that Gimple would do something to put his job on the line...and considering a lot of people were interested in Beth's storyline...surely he knew that there would be backlash when he planned this season out. I just don't think there is a bigger picture, I think they needed someone to die msf and they thought Hell why not Beth Greene no one will miss her. It reeks of a last minute change to me at least. I honestly think he had no idea there would be so much backlash when he wrote this at the last minute. I'm going logical, while Beth can survive a gunshot to the head in which she has sustained to her head. As I have been told by a couple people it went straight through and it didn't seem to wobble at all and it went right out of the back of her head, There was also very little blood in compare a real bullet to the head and there was no brain matter at all. Now I know this is a tv show but GN is a special effects person is I would think more blood and Brain matter would have been shown, also no one checked her pulse nor did you see her face when she "died" I'm not saying she is alive or she isn't alive all I'm saying is that there are so many holes in this storyline.

The overall ratings won't change at all, the Demos which ever networks tries to get is the women 18-45 and those ratings will drop. I can bet my next $20 on the fact that women are not going to sit around and watch an all male dominated show it just won't happen. I just chalk up the "Gross" talk to the stigma and the fact that people still don't agree with Interracial dating nor do they think same sex couples should happen and this whole age gap thing has been going on since the mid 1800's and with the pedos out there the age gap stigma just has gotten so much worse that people just associate it with disgust. there is never going to be a time where everyone agrees that age gap couples are accepted it just isn't and the bigger the gap the more "creepy" people find it even if the two people are adults.

Beth is Jesus is a little out there.

I understand all that but it still bothers me that they can still be acceptable of all the other things I mentioned before. Society.

I'm not really on team Beth still lives because again I just can't trust they writers. But if she did live I think most are using Jesus as more of a symbolism than her legit and 100 percent being Jesus (or her actually being 100 percent dead on the show and then she comes back to life and we see her rising up). Though I would have no problem believing Beth actually survived. Yeah it's a gun shot to the head but people have lived before and lets be honest as others have pointed they have done many other things that weren't exactly realistic.

TWD already dropped from it's usual #1 spot to #6 after the last episode. And many people are already saying they're not watching the show when it returns...casual fans included. I just have a lot of faith in the fans to actually stick to their guns about not watching anymore, especially with all the backlash that's been on the internet. And, as an example, Ziva left NCIS a few years ago and angered many fans and ratings dropped and stayed dropped...it just goes to show that if writers piss of fans enough they very well can make the ratings drop. And depending on the network, a lot of the networks will do whatever they have to to bring the ratings back up. I.E., in this case bring Beth back somehow. After all, ratings are everything in the world of tv today.

I do think the point about everything going to waste is a good one. Even for shock value, would a writer really not care this badly? The whole thing is just strange.

If the goal was a convincing (presumed) death, they did it. But the dilemma is how Beth would survive. Thinking she got shot in the head, the group won't likely put a knife through her temple. Then there's the Dr. who, although was a coward, liked Beth enough to save her. That is if they don't bury her Still, why was the reunion so strange?

I can't get over Beth's death scene. Could you imagine being EK reading that script?

But it could also be they actually felt everything they wrote was good and came full circle and "shock value" that she died last minute without reunions. Or maybe just didn't give a **** and figured not enough would either so.... I don't know...
