Bonnie Francesca Wright was born on February 17, 1991 in London, England. She’s the second and youngest child of Sheila Teague and Gary Wright. She has one older brother named Lewis. Her parents are well-known jewelery designers and own the British jewelery company, Wright & Teague Jewelers.

• In 1999, the casting team of WB began looking for young children to star in the Harry Potter movie series and Bonnie was one of the lucky girls chosen to play a part in the first film. She became our little Ginny Weasley!
• In 2002, Bonnie came back for the second installment of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Her role became more prominent with this movie, in which her character deals not only with her crush on the famous boy wizard, Harry Potter, and her school duties, but also with a very powerful secret diary that begins to seize her soul and consciousness. In that same year, Bonnie appeared in the Hallmark production Stranded as Young Sarah Robinson.
• In 2004, Bonnie reprized her role as Ginny Weasley in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, this time her part was significantly smaller, leaving her with only one line of dialogue. She also appeared in TV film Agatha Christie: A Life in pictures as young Agatha Christie that same year.
• Bonnie’s character became a more important supporting character in the fourth and fifth installments of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007). In the fifth film we see Ginny as a powerful witch, blowing up a dummy while practicing in the Room of Requirement and reducing it to pieces.
• In October 2007, Bonnie made a guest appearance in the Disney’s popular show The Replacements, in the episode 11 of the second season: London Calling. She gave voice to Vanessa, a student from a secret spy school in London who wants to steal the secret guide for the spy but Todd and Riley, along with their family, stop her. Another voice role she did in 2007, was as Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix Video Game, which was the first video game of the series to have most of the cast doing their voices of their video game characters.
• Bonnie reprized her role as Ginny Weasley in the sixth installment of the Harry Potter series where her character plays a leading role as Harry Potter’s love interest. Reviews greatly praised her performance and her popularity rapidly grew even larger as fans realized that Ginny was the one for Harry. Bonnie became noticed for both her acting chops and her red carpet fashion picks as she traveled the world promoting the newest film.
• Bonnie is currently reprising her character as Ginny Weasley in the and final part (a two-part movie) of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, its first part to premiere next November 19, 2010 and the second part on July 15, 2011.
• Also in 2009, Bonnie became a ambassador and supporter for fashion label Made-By and has signed to star in a short film called Sweat. Sweat is part of a project of five films called Geography of the Hapless Heart. She will be playing the leading female character called Mia in the London segment. Alexandra Billington, who is Sweat film producer and writer has spoken about Wright and said "Bonnie played the role of Mia beautifully and with a maturity that did great justice to the character. Filming went fantastically well and Bonnie was both highly professional and a complete pleasure to work with."
In 2010, Bonnie confirmed to be dating fellow actor and Potter co-star Jamie Campbell Bower.

"With porcelain skin, autumnal red hair and clear blue eyes, Bonnie Wright has the look of an Irish temptress, yet the calm and down-to-Earth character of an English Rose."
- Drama Magazine

Bonnie Wright who plays Ginny is just amazing. When you came onto the last movie, knowing that you couldn't recast anyone, did you have a plan of how you were going to get them to the point where they could do the things needed for this movie?
"I think it was a process of nurturing and encouraging and supporting, and I did workshops with Bonnie before we started shooting. I got really excited. She has a quality and it goes back... all credit to David Heyman and Chris Columbus who found them in the first place."
- David Yates

"I used to look up to people like Emma and Bonnie and I found it hard to imagine myself fitting in with them. But they extended the hand of friendship and bridged the gap and eventually I was able to see myself as one of the cast."
- Evanna Lynch

"What Bonnie Wright brought to the table was a burning charisma that could barely be contained in two smoldering eyes, whose stare was womanly and mature far beyond the actress's eighteen years of age. - Oh yes, Ms. Wright had the boys (in my theater at least) sweating in their seats. "
- ScreenRant Review

"Her best friend on set is Bonnie Wright who plays Ginny Weasley, (ironically the girl who displaces Cho in Harry Potter's affections.) "Everyone expects us to be rivals, but we hang out a lot!" xD
- Katie Leung

"Seeing Bonnie Wright - who plays Ginny Weasley - blossom, has been lovely!"
-David Heyman

"Bonnie is loads and loads of fun and amazing and fantastic!!!"
- Daniel Radcliffe

"When we were casting the first film, I was so overwhelmed by the process of finding our Harry Potter and Ginny was such a small part that I really hadn't considered how much acting Bonnie was going to have to do in the second film, but she is absolutely amazing. Ginny is a challenging and demanding role and she does it beautifully."
- Chris Columbus

"She comes across as a pleasant, unstarry, level-headed girl."
- Evening Standard Magazine

"Wright appears to be wise beyond her years and explains she had to grow up fast, learning how to be both a child and make the most of the Harry Potter franchise as a working actor at such young age."
- No. Magazine Photo Spread

Now in this film, I was gonna say - there's lots of romance! I mean were you teasing everybody on the set?!
Well, I'm really good friends with Bonnie and Dan - so when it came to their kissing scene we were all just like "Ooooh!!!!!" you know?! [laughs] But it was fine you know, Bonnie's like one of my best friends, so is Dan. It just comes with the job doesn't it?
- Afshan Azad (HBP London Premiere)[TLC]

I don't know what it is. I don't know whether we're all just a bit older or what, but this year, everyone has just got on so much better with everyone else. I mean, not that we didn't get on before, but it's just like all the friendships have been tightened and everyone's been doing so much. I think it is because we're a little older and can sort of see each other outside of the film more, and, yeah. It's just everyone's been getting a lot closer! In regards to the six, I've been a lot closer with Dan, Rupert, and Emma, and umm me and Bonnie!
- Matthew Lewis (Leaky Podcast)

"If someone told me eight years ago that Bonnie Wright, introduced as Ginny Weasley in the first movie, would turn into such a strong dramatic actress who could carry scenes as well as the three leads, I wouldn't have believed it. It's a testament to producer David Heyman and the various directors who've helmed the franchise that these young actors have been able to evolve and develop their characters so much."
- ComingSoon.Net

"Finally, Bonnie is adorable. A fresh face, appropriately dressed in a white polo shirt tucked into skinny jeans and flats, hair a mousy brown, is polite and unassuming, walks with the gait of a girl still growing into her body, without the insolent boredom of an adolescent or the desperate need to impress of a young adult. If she wants it, I hope she becomes a big, big star."
- Lainey Gossip, OotP DVD Launch

"The youngsters are all pretty impressive. But Ron (the ever-fine Rupert Grint) is never given enough to do, and while Hermione (Emma Watson) is as earnest as ever, it is Bonnie Wright as Ron's sister Ginny who makes the most subtle and memorable impact...her time is to come."
- Sunday Mirror

"We know who likes who and it’s the subtleties in the performances by Radcliffe, Watson and Wright that have our hearts go out to the ones that are breaking."
- efilmcritic HBP review

"Ginny (Bonnie Wright) in particular shines through, building on the power she gained in the last film to become an independent young woman that proves more complex with every scene."
- Filmschoolrejects HBP review

"Bonnie was both highly professional and a complete pleasure to work with. She played the role of Mia beautifully and with a maturity that did great justice to the character."
- Alexandra Billington Writer/Producer of 'Sweat'

"...and Bonnie Wright's Ginny intrigues as the sort of initial plain Jane who keeps growing on you."
- Variety HBP review

"Bonnie gave a stellar performance."
- Peter Ogunsalu Producer of 'Sweat'

"You seem to be spending time with a lot of beautiful British actresses at the mo. First Emma Watson for Burberry and now Daisy Lowe and Bonnie Wright for short flick Geography of the Hapless Heart. Not bad huh?
Daisy and Bonnie are both fantastic and become friends. They are really, really great girls. It’s great to get to know other people in the (acting) scene."
- Douglas Booth 'Sweat' Co-Star

"I'm not quite sure if I'll end up behind or in front of the camera,' she says, 'but because the scale of Harry Potter is so massive – just hundreds and hundreds of cast and crew – I'd love to do something totally different next: maybe a small independent project where the whole team worked really closely together, something creative, not just churning out a film to put bums on seats."

"People always ask, 'Is this going to be the biggest thing in your career?' And while I don't think there's ever been anything like Harry Potter, that's gone on for so long and maintained its popularity, I think the answer – for me and for all of us – is that more challenging experiences lie ahead."
- Bonnie Wright (You Magazine 2009)

Since ootp film, I think. At first I like her because she plays Ginny, who become my favorite character after reading hbp. But now, it's much more than that, I'm quite impressed with her. The way she carries herself, how natural, gifted and down to earth she is, her sense of fashion (yes!)....so many things really. :D

Kgose 06-17-2008 07:44 PM

I think I started to like Bonnie after the movie CoS. I thought she was adorable and plus the fact she's playing my favorite character. So I looked up who was playing Ginny which happens to be Bonnie of course. The more I learned about Bonnie, the more I liked. Plus with some of the Bonnie hate, it made me like her more, and stick up for her.
I can't wait to see Bonnie in HBP and her kicking ass as Ginny, showing the haters they're wrong about her.

Top 30 update:
Bonnie Wright (1868)

Eveishxx 06-17-2008 07:51 PM

Thanks for the update, Kristi!

I agree, Gean. I also think that Bonnie is an incredibly talented actress and is down to earth as well, which is rare for a young celebrity in most cases. And her fashion sense rocks. It's unique and quirky. Bonnie's not afraid to be bold with her fashion and I admire that greatly. She seems like she doesn't give a crap about what other people think which is fantastic! :)

Kristi, about Bonnie haters, sticking up for her to them has also made me love her more. Just knowing that our girl is amazing in so many ways and articulating that even when I'm upset really helps me put things into perspective.

jonrevilla123 06-17-2008 07:54 PM

Well, she had me with "Goodluck". :D

I don't know, but I really liked her on that one scene on PS/SS. Then it grow more when I saw COS. Technically, I liked her before I even get to like Ginny, the character she portrays, just because I saw the movie(PS/SS) first before I read the books..

And I love her even more when I saw how beautiful she has become during OOTP... :)

Gean 06-17-2008 08:05 PM

Yes Joy, she totally blossomed in ootp. Can't wait to see her in her full glory in hbp. :D

It really does. Her fashion sense shows her parallels to Ginny in terms of her attitude.

Sweet! Thanks, Gean! I'll do that too. :)

I can't believe how much she's grown either. It's really incredible. She's blossomed so much. Bonnie's gone from an adorable little girl to a gorgeous young woman. And soon she'll be a star! :sigh:
