Lindsay, good luck to your country with the elections! And that stinks about the pain meds.

Thanks. My headache is gone. I just needed to sleep it off.

I am so nervous. I don't know why. With past elections I don't even care but this one makes me anxious for some reason.

How is everyone's weekend so far? Hello 95F weather to me.

I'm glad your headache's gone, Lindsay.

It was hot and sunny here yesterday. It has got colder today.

I planted some French beans yesterday. I have posted some allotment pics in the Picture thread.

Lindsay, I don't blame you for being nervous about the elections. In my experience, at a certain point in your life, you are old enough to see the consequences of previous elections. As a result, you know the current ones can change a lot. Our in the U.S. midterm elections are around 6 months away, and a a lot of us are fretting.

My weekend is OK. Today is Mother's Day here so I called my mother. But other than that I haven't done much.

I had one hot day over the weekend.

I hope you had a good Mothers Day, Pia.

Lindsay, I hope you're all right. I've been following your elections news a little.

Thank you, Julie. My mother said she had a nice day. My sister and her dog visited. I wasn't there, but she had a good time with the dog.

It's going to be hot this week.

I'm glad your mother had a nice day, Pia.

It's a mixture of hot, cool and rainy today. I planted some Eight Ball courgettes today.

It's a bit hot and humid here too. No rain so far though.

I don't believe I've heard of eight ball courgettes before. I had to Google them. They do look like 8 balls shape wise.

I'm back at work today and very depressed. The past 48 hours have given me anxiety. Not only do we have the son of a former dictator for an incumbent president, in the senatorial race a actor topped it with no political experience at all. Our VP is the daughter of the outgoing president. The only silver lining for me is that I live in a city with a really good and effective mayor and he won by a landslide victory.

THIS 100%!!! I've been so frustrated in the past that every election for me feels like a new hope. And then afterwards it just slaps you in the face and it's still the same. People here never learn and they will just vote for what the current administration endorses or vote for someone familiar and famous. I feel sick really. The mood at work has been somber to say the least. Which government positions are for the midterm elections there?

Lindsay.

I had never heard of Eight Ball courgettes either. They are small so I planted them in a grow bag.

It has been very rainy today. The sun is out now.

There's the advantage to living in a big city. It can be an oasis for a region or even a country.

I know it's not going to change anything, but your country is definitely not unique in forgetting the past.

The midterms are every two years (in the middle of a president's term). If the incumbent's term is up there is an election for U.S representative, Senator, governor, mayor, and a bunch of other local and regional offices. On a national level the president's opposing party usually gains seats. The Senate might hold steady, but in the House of Representives the Republicans will become the majority party most likely. That's what is predicted, but a lot can change in 6 months. My area is safe, I think. The governor and everyone else will easily win reelection. My Senator is so popular she doesn't even have any opposition. But the rest of the country will be interesting to watch.

Julie, sorry about the rain but at least the sun is out.

Pia, we also have midterms where we vote for the other half of the senators, congressmen and councilors. It's usually low key and the only one that really gives me anxiety is the presidential elections. Like you I'm curious who the rest voted for or who topped in the votes. I had to turn off the news at one point because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I feel a lot better now as long as I don't think too much about what transpired these past 2 days.

Lindsay, the presidential ones are the big ones here too. The midterms usually have low turnout. But the people in lower positions can do damage too. I wish more people realized that. Anyways, I hope your country doesn't suffer too much as a result of these elections.

Julie, I'm glad you had nice weather. It was kind of hot today.

Julie, we don't have F1 this weekend right? My mind is empty after the elections.

Pia, very true. We have low voter turnout too because no one seems to care to vote for that as the presidential elections is a big deal here. Thanks very much. I know he's not like his father but he is endorsed by the current administration so I feel like we're in the same but with a different leader. Plus the general sentiment for him here is hate because of what his father did when he was president many years ago.

Happy weekend everyone! I'll be busy with running errands again for mom and grandma so I won't be online tomorrow. Plus my uncle (from the US) is visiting in two weeks so we're preparing for that.
