Thanks for compiling all of that, Belle! Glad to hear that there was no booing, though. There shouldn't be room for any of that.

Honestly, I wish people would just stop asking shipping questions. It puts Eliza in an awkward spot, and even though Bob is able to answer the questions diplomatically, it's clear that he's over those kinds of questions and getting annoyed by them tbh. I imagine Eliza is sick of them too (from both sets of the fandom, tbh).

Also... the fact that they acted out fanfic makes me so uncomfortable. Stop bringing fic to the actors' attention!!!!

I think it's pretty clear that she's had enough of shipping related questions - SDCC last year was an example of that, and fans know this, so I wish they'd stop pushing her. I saw tweets about planning to ask her questions just because they know it's going to make her uncomfortable. As I said based on previous cons, everyone has a fair idea of how she feels towards ships, at the end of the day they're only setting themselves up for disappointment. To say she doesn't understand her own character/is dumb because she interprets the script a different way to what a fan base may see it as is unacceptable. Jason already said, everyone can take what they want and that's fine, that should be enough. Eliza responded saying she doesn't ship or can't answer a certain question, and people take to twitter to abuse her and call her horrible things, yet they're forgetting Bob requested a few weeks ago on Day 2(?) at Ottawa Comic Con for fans to not give him BC pictures to sign - no one got upset with him on twitter. I'm sorry guys but I'm really tired of Eliza copping so much flak all the time. BOTH sides (CL & BC) of the fandom need to own up to the fact that one can be just as nasty as the other. For a show with such a mature target demographic, said demographic behave like entitled children.

Ask her about her projects, Clarke as an individual, Clarke as a leader or what have you. Stop making these conventions all about a ship, they need to be put to rest unless she of course brings it up herself. It does need to be acknowledged that she's trying to respond to questions in a more neutral way, without intending to upset another - I can see that difference in her from 12 months ago to now. She's managing to do this all the while sticking to what she believes in.

I found the fan fic thing a little funny, only because Eliza has asked for recommendations and links in the past. :lmao: Jessica Harmon always brings a fan up on stage to act out fics, I think it's their way of changing/keeping the discussion away from certain topics, and adding a little more fun into the mix.

After this weekend I truly hope the Wizard World convention goes smoothly.

Exactly, like they all know how she feels about it... the fact that they're doing it to make her uncomfortable is disgusting, and there's such a double standard where Eliza gets so much flak in particular when she doesn't even like answering. Ship your ship, whatever, Eliza isn't obligated to ship or not ship the same things that you do.

I'm hoping Sacramento goes smoothly, too. :fingers_crossed:

You'll have to tell us all about it afterwards!

Richard Harmon and Ricky Whittle will be in Australia that same weekend doing a convention here. I was considering going but Sydney is a little too far and I'm still broke from the last con.

That's going to be like 10:30AM for me. I don't know if I can bear to watch live, I might wait to see tweets so I know if it was a train wreck or not.

April7739 06-16-2017 09:43 PM

Well, personally, I was really looking forward to it. We haven't seen the show's male and female lead do a panel together since 2015. And now we'll have to wait a little longer.

I'm here in Sacramento, I'm (understandably) devastated, but I look forward to meeting Eliza again tomorrow. I'm very lucky to have the opportunity to meet her twice, and I will not take it for granted.
